Organized by @NDLawEJC, with @NDHumRts and the Institute for Social Concerns serving as co-sponsors, the week was made possible through a generous donation from Syl Schieber ’72 M.A., ’74 Ph.D., and Vicki Schieber.

Through a series of powerful conversations and firsthand accounts, Death Penalty Abolition Week sought to raise awareness of the tragic miscarriages of justice caused by wrongful convictions, affirm the sanctity of human life, and advocate for the abolition of the death penalty in the United States.

Featured speakers included the Honorable Bob Morris, Indiana Representative; Erin Barnhart ‘05 J.D., a federal public defender, with Elwood Jones, an Ohio death row exoneree; Anthony Ray Hinton, a death row exoneree and author of "The Sun Does Shine"; and Sarah Craft, interim director of the Indiana Abolition Coalition, with Donna Schneweis, director of the Kansas Coalition Against the Death Penalty.
