@b_b_b_b_b_b_b24 As far as me, personally, I don't like that people pretend Japanese media is so inaccessible in general that you have no choice but to pirate it. You can legally obtain probably 99% of it and the rest is essentially abandonware nobody will give you a hard time about if you stfu.
@b_b_b_b_b_b_b24 I think the Japanese mainly have an issue with the boasting and the silly excuses. It's not like there aren't people in Japan who pirate. They just shut up about it cause they know they'll get their sites taken down if they make them too well known.
@b_b_b_b_b_b_b24 It's not trolls, I think these are just genuinely dumb people. Not all American, though. I only said that as a joke. I don't actually have anything against Americans.
@b_b_b_b_b_b_b24 Cool, man. You're talking about 30 year old games, though. This is the point of the post you're replying to. Do PC-98 games not being sold anymore make it OK for people to pirate things you can buy right this moment? Don't have to answer this, obviously you agree that it's not.
There are 14 year old American fujoshi buying BL eroge from Fanza and you're getting gatekept by mainstream shounen, bro. You are being mogged by little girls, bro.
@KingdomKey93@pogbum4040 If its a site that sells very adult manga or eroge it's usually blocked by Visa and MasterCard but that's from OUR side and the same block applies to Japanese users, too. They have ways around this by letting you buy points on another website which you then use on the blocked one
@KingdomKey93@pogbum4040 Hell, they even let you get around the payment processor ban for adult sites like FANZA by buying points with your credit card and using those.
@KingdomKey93 The general concensus also seems to be that you simply can't buy Japanese media. People just decided on this without even bothering to try.
@KingdomKey93 I've only seen one good argument from the western side and that was lost media. Like, sure man, you can pirate that one fucking movie that wouldn't even exist otherwise. Nobody cares about that. Using that as an excuse to pirate stuff you *can* buy, though? Come on now.
@KingdomKey93@pogbum4040 I stick to digital generally, if I do import I use Buyee. DMM Books or Shonen Jump+ both have a very wide selection of digital manga. I don't even see a problem with buying it there and then reading the scanlation if an official translation doesn't exist, btw.
@KingdomKey93 That is literally my only point. Do you think a million Japanese Twitter users would argue on for days if the western side just admitted they like free shit? They'd call you a gaijin monkey, put another IP restriction on their website and move the fuck on.
@Freddyfaulds811 It's available and easy to access, I've proved this like 50 times in one day. You're talking about localization, not accessibility. You not being able to speak Japanese doesn't mean it's okay to steal everything in Japanese. Are you genuinely 80 IQ or what?
@KingdomKey93 It's not irrelevant, it's literally the point I was making in the post you decided to reply to. People are making it a debate about morality for some reason when it doesn't have to be. If they truly did what you say, it wouldn't even be an issue.
@Freddyfaulds811 Are you genuinely this stupid and self centered that you think the Japanese *owe* you translations? If you wanted to compensate the author you would buy the original and read the translation online.
