Everyone’s probably seen this before but earlier a non-chess-playing friend introduced me to this joke problem (white to move). Every move is forced until the solution. I’m not sure I can explain why it’s fascinating, it just is.
I’m sure people will tell me blitz rots the brain, but I hit a new high this week - a modest 1018. Fortunately, to keep me grounded, at one point in the game I missed mate in 1.
I’ve not tweeted for ages, but tonight myself and @MrsProle had dinner at @FishersSeafood. It was FANTASTIC - the best seafood I’ve ever had, and brilliant service. You should all go!
Bielsa leaving Leeds is sad for so many reasons. Sad because it’s over, and for how it ended. But also because maybe I didn’t appreciate it enough while it was happening, and because maybe things won’t ever be quite that good again. Still, it’s only football…right?
Anyway, that’s enough moaning on about chess for a few days, @MrsProle is taking me to London to examine the food and ale situation. We’ll report back.
Made it to my highest rapid rating. Perhaps focusing on longer games is paying off? That said, much of the credit should go to my last two opponents, who were both kind enough to donate me a bishop.
