@GabrielleBates Enheduanna!! First learned of her in a women’s workshop about 13 years ago and it blew my mind. I now facilitate that same workshop. The Descent of Inanna is a cornerstone of my life. A heroine’s journey and completely applicable to modern life. https://t.co/WPsxYu0tjA
@JenaFriedman Hardest thing I ever did. And I never EBF. That was something huge for me to grieve. I saw it as a failure. But in so many ways it was a miracle for me to BF at all. They don’t tell you what you’re up against and how many factors can contribute to difficulties.
Love is a type of generational wealth we don’t pursue enough.
We keep trying to own more, make more, travel more but we need to love more and better than our parents and their parents.
We want LeVar Burton to host Jeopardy for the same reason we venerate Bob Ross and Mr. Rogers, and the same reason the show Ted Lasso is so popular. Our culture yearns for, and desperately needs, men who are kind and gentle, and who will teach that by example.
All jokes aside: an entire generation of New Yorkers has been completely priced out of buying homes in their own communities. I think we help people most in need first (homeless, the working poor). But the inability of middle class to put down roots in nyc is a real problem.
Today's card. For me & many, the mother archetype has had to do w/ a force in life with a wingspan far enough & lap wide enough to hold both the broadest expansions & tightest contractions of the heart. In joy & terror she blesses us w the capacity to expand & hold it all, too.
