DA Johannesburg mayoral candidate Helen Zille says she will no longer comment publicly on the Israeli genocide in Gaza, stating she is now focused on her campaign for the City of Johannesburg.
Her remarks follow an exchange at the DA’s “Believe in Joburg” meeting at the Kensington Club on 15 April 2026, where Pastor Nigel Branken challenged her on the party’s position regarding Gaza.
Zille said she would be willing to engage Pastor Nigel Branken one-on-one, but will not address the issue in public or during campaign events, and has since declined further comment and interviews, saying her focus remains on Johannesburg governance and service delivery. #DA #Genocide
