The way Sony is refusing to acknowledge that Monument of Triumph exists is starting to feel so weird. Like you'd think that after the update did so well (and got so many copies to sell) they'd at least have their social media people tweet about it or something lol
Sorry to all my non-destiny/non-gaming followers for the Destiny spam. We're losing our third space & something a lot of us, me included, have spent 12 years w/ as somewhere we could go to escape life. I would not be who I am or have a lot of the friends I have without this game.
Rewrote this a few times to get my frustrations out. I wasn’t ready to be done yet & it just hurts man. I don’t know if anything will help tbh. But let’s show up June 9th for Destiny 2 to at least honor & show love to the incredible work of the people who built this world 🫶💔
As a Destiny player, I’m so upset at how misunderstood things have become.
People are angry, yes!! We were told Destiny & Marathon were going to ‘co exist’ , Destiny would ‘live on’ … we waited patiently for months & months in pure silence, while Marathon received spotlight & updates.. to finally be told ‘Destiny is officially getting its Final Update June 9th.’ ..
This end having no closure to our Guardian, to the characters & new stories with Edge of Fate/Renegades.. it feels like we were done wrong & betrayed. We played Marathon while sitting in silence, we’ve supported, waiting for Destiny news.. for this to be the end? How can you do this to an incredible loyal/passionate player base for YEARS.
I am extremely bittersweet about all of this situation. I understand Marathon is not to blame for Destiny’s end. It’s just so sad Destiny quite literally was left abandoned, for a game that is MOSTLY DESTINY PLAYER-BASE ANYWAY. Marathon isn’t a bad game, but to put Destiny down for it? Wow… what an incredible mistake that I hope Sony realizes at some point.
I’m just.. upset. I still just cannot accept this. 😔
Credit to @rebbford for being such a class act and great human generally.
I’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths a few times and it’s never failed to leave me with fond memories.
This is just another example of her lifting people up. She gets it. I wish more people did.
Even if the D3 petition and showing up in Destiny 2 on June 9th does nothing — it’s the fact that the community’s voice has united so loudly that the world has noticed.
Show up.
Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
I've seen (& signed) the petition going around. But I think the much more powerful response if you're hoping for some kind of future for the franchise is:
Log on the week of June 9th.
Dont' get me wrong, Sony execs aren't gonna fall to their knees in tears and insta-green-light D3 or anything. But seeing SO many players out there logging on to give one last hurrah to the franchise that meant so much to them - it'll speak volumes in its own way.
At the very least, we'll have one more window of fun enjoying the last batch of new content in a game that meant so much to us. At best, it'll show how passionate the community still is, and just how badly so many of us want SOME kind of future for this franchise, no matter how long it might take to build.
I'll see you out there in June. It's gonna be one hell of a ride.
