bill was introduced on march 13. passed lok sabha march 24. passed rajya sabha march 25. all of this in 12 days, they move so quick when it’s about taking rights away
“I challenge you, not even 5 MPs here would be able to explain what LGBTQIA+ means. Why should people without this knowledge be allowed to make this Bill? This Bill must be sent to a select committee.” - Rajya Sabha MP from INC Telangana @RenukaCCongress
PLEASE please watch this and talk about trans people in India. They have now introduced a new bill which criminalises transitioning and helping someone in doing so.
Dark Day for Democracy! Trans Bill passed in both houses. Trans men, trans non binary persons and trans women who are not kinner-hijra will NOT be legally recognised as trans anymore! Bill passed without community or NCTP consultation. Calls to differ to select committee ignored.
The Indian government has effectively erased trans and nonbinary people.
No more self-determination. No legal recognition. No access to healthcare. Trans men, in particular, risk being completely erased.
Please talk about this. Please amplify it.
theyre criminalizing transitioning in india and i dont see anyone outside of some queer indians talking about it. do you hear me, theyre literally taking away the rights to live & transition in india, what the hell is the rest of the world doing. wake up
