The security and prosperity of the Pacific is vital to Australia’s future.
Being part of the conversation – whether it is on climate change, security or the economy – means Australia gets to be part of the solution.
@TheBillaton Two favorite memories (1) when she mistakenly thought Tosh was slacking off , only to find herself caught in one of his undercover operations and (2) when she led the rescue of Burnside and Roach, who'd unexpectedly been taken hostage and were on the verge of being executed.
@TheBillaton Kim is one of my all time favorite characters, amazingly played by Carolyn Pickles. Such professionalism, charm, humor and ability to stare down Burnside and Roach, even if she didn't always succeed
@BrianBrownUCA I think it's the most pointless thing ever. If the monarchy has to exist, let the King open with some ceremonial platitudes and then let the Prime Minister do his own damn speech
@SallyLawry The Greens are all pie in the sky virtue signaling over this. They know they don't hold the responsibilities and challenges of holding office and overseeing a constructive foreign policy, so they pointlessly howl and yowl from the sidelines to gain street cred with their base.
@SallyLawry The ABC's Twitter feed has been reduced to basically promoting useless, worthless clickbait designed to lower the tone of dialogue. And of course to relentlessly bash the government from the right and the left. Sad to see.
@ZinMaayan1007 My heart aches for you. No family should have to go through this. May your daughters come back safe and well. May peace, justice and healing come to all.
"The Bible is clear" is a term often used to force beliefs & morality on people who don't subscribe to the teachings of the Bible.
But the Bible IS clear, for those who follow Jesus:
Be peacemakers
Love your neighbor
Welcome the stranger
Serve the least
Feed the hungry
Forgive.
A reminder, since so many Republicans want to talk about antisemitism suddenly: a year ago this month their presidential frontrunner hosted a literal Holocaust denier for dinner. None of his rivals condemned him. That Holocaust denier also hosted 2 GOP house members at his event.
7 November 1942 | Just over two weeks after his 7th birthday a Dutch Jewish boy Abraham Henselein was murdered in a gas chamber at Auschwitz II-Birkenau with 464 other Jews deported from #Westerbork. SS doctors did not select anyone from this transport to be registered.
“The cries of the Palestinian and Israeli children sound no different to me. What I don't understand is why the cries of Palestinians sound different to you all.”
For the record, Republican Congressman Max Miller said Gaza would be turned into a “parking lot.”
GOP Congressman Brian Mast said Palestinian civilians are like Nazis.
Republican senators Graham and Cotton said “level” Gaza and “bounce the rubble.”
But they censured Tlaib.
How I wish I had just five minutes with Biden. "Sir, believe me, you can protect Israel *and* hammer, just hammer, Netanyahu at the same time. Yes, you can. And you should, for so many reasons. From protecting civilians to winning in 2024. Come on!"
You know that annoying dynamic where a couple gets into a fight, and when they want to reconcile, their friends and family continue inciting them against each other? You see a lot of that in this conflict: some of the worst hate-mongers are outsiders who have no skin in the game.
