Just wrapped a brilliant week at the Boyd Volcanic Complex (late Devonian) with Dr. Patrick Hayman (@QUT) & Dr. Karin Orth (@UTAS_). Hands-on volcanic stratigraphy and awesome lectures made it a memorable learning experience! #volcanology#QUTeX
#QUT PhD candidate Carl Walsh did his bachelorโs and masterโs in geoscience at QUT and now his ground-breaking research has solved a scientific conundrum warranting publication in prestigious journal 'Nature' https://t.co/80dTxa8TYn #Diamonds#DiamondJewellery#QUTResearch

Had a short and sweet visit to @GIPresidency yesterday. Enjoyed knowing the faculty and talking to the BSc, MSc, and PhD students about research, academic preparations, geoscience careers and such. To the students - keep your dreams alive. Thanks @IAScBng as I wrap up my visit.
The Geological Institute, Presidency University is delighted to announce the next lecture which will be held on the 10th of November, 2022 (Thursday).

#MinCup2022 is a celebration of light & colour!
This yearโs Champion may be soft but it campaigned hard! #Fluorite charmed many with its cubic habit, octahedral cleavage, rainbow of colours, and of course its fluorescent glow.
Condolences, #Zircon, and congratulations Fluorite!
We were delighted to have @ydnad0 as our chief guest at the 99th Annual General Meeting. It was a highly enriching experience to hear him speak about Our Astrophysical Ecosystem: How the Stars Govern Planetary Habitability.
Earlier this week, we published our annual departmental journal Bhu-Vidya at the 99th Annual General Meeting of the Geological Institute. It was an excellent opportunity for me to serve as the editor of the 62nd Edition of Bhu-Vidya ๐๐ฅ

The annual journal of the Geological Institute, Bhu-Vidya, a yearly bilingual journal, is intended to help students venture, think and express beyond their classroom learning, on the very strength of the latter itself
Geological Institute is a student-run academic organization, the first of its kind in Asia, established to foster extra-academic acumen among the earth-science community by organizing seminars, workshops, meetings, and journal publications.
The Geological Institute was set up in 1905, in the Department of Geology, Presidency University, Kolkata (erstwhile Presidency College, founded on July 17, 1892).
Had a great time with Prof. Somnath Dasgupta and Prof. Sankar Bose during my MSc dissertation fieldwork in the Eastern Ghats Province. Mg-Al UHT granulites are such a fantastic rock to see (and to work with, ofcourse)! ๐๐ฅณ
