After 20 months of negotiations, enough is enough: Today, more than 1,000 @NYTimesGuild members pledged to walk out if @nytimes does not agree to a complete and fair contract by Dec. 8.
While @NBCNews claims to prioritize flexibility in its RTO plan, it has quietly been terminating contracts for remote employees because hybrid work no longer fits the business model.
They want us in the office and are pushing coworkers out the door on the way toward that goal.
Pleased to say we’ve reached a tentative deal w/ @BBGIndustry: 3-year contract w/ enhanced year-one raises, continuing OT pay for lower-paid reporters, faster vacation accrual, more parental leave & strong job security. Thanks to our members for ample support during bargaining
Calling on @BBGIndustry to bargain in good faith today at the end of a long series of contract negotiations. Still waiting on a meaningful proposal for fair wages, access to overtime pay, parental leave, and remote work flexibility.
🚨🚨🚨 Our workers are staging a demonstration today outside our downtown DC office. We want wage increases and a permanent guarantee of telework.
@BBGIndustry, don’t be a dinosaur!

.@BBGIndustry is still refusing—after weeks of bargaining—to give employees any permanent remote work, even as the current contract is set to expire in three days.
More than 60% of Guild members surveyed said they would not vote for a contract without work flexibility included.
@BBGIndustry is trying to entice employees into a disappointing contract with $2,500 ratification bonus. They’d still end OT pay & lower starting salaries for correspondents, and management hasn’t budged on work-from-home for main office staff. We’re still demanding a fair deal
We’re back at the table today, inching toward a new contract with @BBGIndustry. We still have a long way to go convincing them to pay wages that recognize our valuable work & high inflation, plus allow the remote-work flexibility our home office colleagues need
Representatives for @BBGIndustry said that employees’ voices don’t matter on work from home, and that the company will resume in office work.
INDG says the company culture is in office, despite over 70% of employees preferring WFH, according to a guild survey.
I'm about to re-request #ADA accommodation to #workfromhome for my #mentalhealth. My doc's note is astounding: "Over the past two years symptoms have improved through remote work to the point of no longer meeting criteria for an episode of Major Depressive Disorder." @GuildatBIG
DOL’s consumer price index shows inflation at 7.5%. @BBGIndustry and @Bloomberg must agree to meaningful raises to recruit and retain talent. Pay what we’re worth!
Improving this benefit would help recruit, retain and empower great women workers and the people that support them. It’s a no-lose policy that creates loyalty, supports diversity, and allows an employer to compete for better talent.
This disparity should be fixed ASAP. Employees of @BBGIndustry deserve the same parental leave benefits provided for the employees of @business and all other @Bloomberg groups.
Management just proposed a new section around remote work that would codify current status quo. It wouldn’t give the guild any negotiating power and would allow them to require workers come back to the office full time with 14 days notice
“Meet and confer means nothing”
Big thanks to correspondents who joined us at the table today. We heard @BBGIndustry’s plan to lower starting salaries & offer only comp time, not OT pay. We’re making progress (they’ve backed off a worse OT proposal), but still fighting for pay/benefits that recognize our value
