I got tired of arguing about India's last decade from memory, so I spent months building the record instead.
India Unfolding: 200 sectors, in English and हिन्दी. Every figure comes from a ministry, a regulator or a government portal, and every one carries the date it was read. If a number isn't official, it isn't on the site.
Some of what the record shows:
• UPI payments a year: 0.9 billion → 241.6 billion (2017-18 → 2025-26)
• Airports with scheduled flights: 74 → 165 (2014 → July 2026)
• National highways: 91,287 → 1,46,572 km (2013-14 → March 2026)
• Broad-gauge rail electrified: 21,801 → 69,873 km, now 99.6% of the network
• Non-fossil power capacity: 81 → 304.33 GW (August 2026)
• Electronics made in India: ₹1.9 → ₹13.11 lakh crore a year
• Defence exports: ₹686 → ₹38,424 crore a year
• Rural homes with a tap connection: 3.23 → 15.94 crore (September 2026)
• Direct benefit transfers: over ₹51 lakh crore, cumulative
• DigiLocker users: 73.53 crore (September 2026)
You can also pick your own state and see eight indicators for it, each from an official table.
Where a source has no figure for a year, the chart leaves the gap rather than filling it. That is the whole point of the thing.
@PiyushGoyal From launch of talks in March 2025 to signing in just 9 months, India's fastest-concluded FTA ever. Now it goes live on Vijay Dashami. 🇮🇳🇳🇿 A fitting day for a win for exporters, MSMEs and young professionals.
India's clean-power capacity, then vs now ☀️
2014: 76.38 GW
June 2026: 288.58 GW
Nearly 4x in 12 years. Solar alone is now 162 GW.

Behind each of those three stories is a number that's hard to take in: 11.69 crore hospital admissions paid for under Ayushman Bharat, across 36,229 empanelled hospitals. 43.52 crore Ayushman cards issued so far.
A brain tumour or a gallbladder surgery used to mean a family selling land or taking a loan. For crores of families, it now means showing a card.
And for the medicines after discharge: Jan Aushadhi Kendras went from 80 in 2014 to 20,149 today, selling medicines 50–80% cheaper than branded ones.
National Health Authority and Department of Pharmaceuticals figures.
The number that shows how far this has come: GeM handled ₹422 crore of orders in 2016-17, its first year. It now does over ₹5 lakh crore a year, with cumulative orders past ₹20 lakh crore.
And the inclusion is real, not just registration. In 2025-26, micro and small enterprises fulfilled 68% of all GeM orders.
It saves money too: a World Bank study found average savings of 9.75% on the median price.
A small business in any district can now sell to the Government of India without knowing anyone in Delhi. That's the change.

The list in that quote — blacksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, carpenters, sculptors — is the list of people India's economy never had a scheme for until 2023.
Three years in: 30 lakh artisans registered across 18 traditional trades, 23.09 lakh of them already trained with a stipend, and a ₹13,000 crore outlay through 2027-28 for tools and collateral-free credit.
And the market they sell into is growing. Handicraft exports: ₹20,083 crore in 2014-15 → ₹33,123 crore in 2024-25. Nearly two-thirds of India's handloom and handicraft artisans are women.

The speed is the story here. PM Surya Ghar stood at 43 lakh homes in June. It's past 50 lakh now.
And those homes add up to a grid of their own. Rooftop solar across India: 1.06 GW in March 2018 → 25.73 GW in March 2026, about 24 times larger in eight years.
"From consumers to prosumers" is exactly right. For the first time, millions of Indian households aren't just buying power, they're selling it back.
MNRE figures.
"India's large talent pool a goldmine" — and the mission is actually putting tools in that talent's hands.
Chip design software licences cost more than most start-ups can raise. Under the India Semiconductor Mission, they've now been provided to 332 academic institutes and 105 start-ups, and 24 start-ups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive scheme.
For forty years Indian engineers designed chips on foreign payrolls. An engineering student in Trichy using the same tools as one at a multinational is how that changes.

Those specialities need specialist institutions behind them, and that's what the last decade built.
2014: Ayush became a full ministry.
2017: the All India Institute of Ayurveda opened in New Delhi, on Ayurveda Day.
2020: Parliament created the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine to regulate its education.
2022: India signed to host the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine at Jamnagar.
2026: the Budget proposed three more All India Institutes of Ayurveda.
Meanwhile the Ayush manufacturing market grew from $2.85 billion in 2014 to $23 billion in 2023.
Happy Ayurveda Day, a couple of days early.
The most convincing pitch for India is what investors have already done.
Annual FDI inflows: about $45 billion in 2014-15 → a record $94.5 billion in 2025-26. Cumulative FDI has crossed $1.17 trillion, and the number of source countries went from 89 to 112.
What they're investing into: 47,000+ compliances removed, a 15% corporate tax rate for new manufacturing companies, 2.12 lakh recognised startups, and electronics production up from ₹1.9 to ₹13.11 lakh crore a year.
All from DPIIT and ministry figures.
Three more from the same set:
Broad-gauge route km electrified: 21,801 → 69,873, which is 99.6% of the network
Defence exports a year: ₹686 crore → ₹38,424 crore
Electronics made in India: ₹1.9 lakh crore → ₹13.11 lakh crore (2025-26 estimate)
India, 2014 to 2026, in ten charts.
UPI payments a year: 0.9 billion → 241.6 billion
Airports with scheduled flights: 74 → 165
Rural homes with a tap connection: 3.23 crore → 15.94 crore
DigiLocker users: 0.2 crore → 73.53 crore
Every point comes from a ministry, a regulator or a government portal, with the date it was read. Nothing is estimated in between.

One rule for all ten charts: where an official series has no figure for a year, the line runs straight across it rather than filling the gap.
Jan Dhan accounts are the clearest case. There is no official count for 2017, 2018 or 2019, so those years are not plotted: 14.72 crore in March 2015, 59.21 crore on 2 September 2026.
A chart is only worth as much as the figure behind it.

@REDBOXINDIA Every new project entity adds to a remarkable run. India's renewable capacity has grown nearly fourfold, from 76.38 GW in 2014 to 288.58 GW by June 2026. ☀️🇮🇳
