Great experience witnessing two important conferences @WASLI_tweets and @WFD2019 in Paris! Would hope to see more deaf women and diversity in leadership roles in the next four years #2023 #wfd2023
This was a really good presentation by Ardavan Guity (present) and @jahochcam (via video) on how the “researched” become researcher and ethics in research with deaf communities. And they shared their slides online! @LingdeptGU #wfd2019
Maartje de Meulder suggests debating issues in sign language rights as not just polar ‘black and white’ but rather in terms of stronger and weaker arguments. #wfd2019 @mdemeulder
What a fantastic presentation, and an amazing thread/summary by @RobbDooling. I can’t wait to see more research and discussion on this topic. I found it so interesting and I want to know more! #wfd2019
Prof Purias: Human rights world needs to control the medical world. There are so many interventions to fix disorders. There are many human rights violations! #SignLanguage is crucial, CI should not replace #SignLanguage. Doctors who say CI only, should be re-trained. #WFD2019
An unforgetable event: : 2400 participants from 137 countries for the World Congress of the Deaf, with an extremely topical theme: Sign Language Rights for All. @WFD2019 It was an honour and a pleasure to be keynote speaker to address their human rights as a linguistic minority.
