From Indus Valley to Moti Mahal - the story of the Tandoor 🧵
The earliest evidence of Tandoor-like ovens used for baking flatbreads dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization.
Archaeological excavations at IVC sites such as Kalibangan (Rajasthan, India) and Harappa (Punjab, present-day Pakistan) reveal cylindrical, mud-plastered ovens used for baking flatbreads-structurally similar to modern tandoors.
While the technology is ancient, tandoori cooking in its modern restaurant form was not widespread in India before 1947.
That transformation came with Kundan Lal Gujral, a Punjabi Hindu Khatri from Chawal, West Punjab, (British India), the legendary Indian chef and founder of Moti Mahal, who popularised dishes like Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken, and Dal Makhani.

What made BJP netas call for a ban on tandoori food in restaurants? Don’t they know their own history?

Do you know Kashmiri Pandit brides don't wear Sindoor and Mangalsutra?
Dejhoor is worn by Kashmiri Pandit brides a day before the wedding, in a ceremony called divgon. It is suspended with a red thread from a piercing in the upper-ear cartilage. The thread is replaced with a gold chain/(ath) at the groom's house.

Dear @sarviind
You should be thankful to this Punjabi guy for knowing Hindi and speaking politely. If this happened in Maharashtra or a South Indian state, he’d likely face harassment or even slaps.
The one language–one script policy already erased Bihar’s own scripts - Kaithi & Tirhuta.
Even Pali, once an ancient linguistic heritage of Bihar, has been stripped from your identity and reduced to being seen only as a Buddhist language.
Now you force others to abandon their language just because you want to work in their states.
Before fast fashion, before trends-
India was already experimenting with gold, metal, and textiles in the Indus Valley era.
Your culture survives by stealing Indian aesthetics- from Bollywood, Punjabi weddings, and Indian sarees.
@BoriatN
@Ozimendios The word zari is Persian, means gold.
Hindus have nothing to do with it. It was Muslim emperors attire and so it stayed among Muslims after partition.
Pakistani Designer @zainabchottani directly copied from Indian y2k fashion ( Karina's lehenga in KKKG) and named it peche royale .
Copying Indian culture isn’t enough for Pak’s masses, even their designers plagiarize Bolly-aesthetics & Indian fashion while denying its roots.

Three years ago, a young man in his early 20s started a Twitter account @GemsofSouthwood , similar to @GemsofBollywood, to call out Anti-Hindu narratives in South Indian cinema.
Instead of debate, he faced threats from actors and their fan groups, forcing him to delete his account.
Although his Telegram channel still exists, his posts were deleted along with his X account
