I’d like to express my utmost respect and, frankly, awe to Captain Smit Machchhar, the Indian pilot of Flydubai flight FZ1073, and to Yaniv Huyan and the other mostly Israeli passengers on that flight for preventing what would have been one of the world’s most horrific terrorist incidents. In a world in which machines and technology do so much for us, it’s really inspiring to read about raw acts of courage by people who are just living their normal lives and not anticipating such a challenge. The nations of India and Israel should be very proud! 🇮🇳✈️🇮🇱
"Just as a source of positivity, whenever I feel a little pain, there is only one thing that comes to my mind—I recite the Hanuman Chalisa. Even at that time, I was only reciting the Hanuman Chalisa. And I know that it was God who saved me."
Captain Smit Machchhar tells PM @narendramodi during their phone call.

" You did not worry about your own life; you were concerned about the lives of all the passengers. And above all, you have made 1.4 billion Indians proud."
PM @narendramodi spoke with Captain Smit Machchhar, who protected the passengers on board flydubai flight #FZ1073 despite being gravely injured.
"Today is Gandhi Jayanti. You have demonstrated through your actions what non-violence truly means."

PM @narendramodi spoke with Captain Smit Machchhar, the Indian pilot whose courage and presence of mind protected passengers on board flight FZ1073.
Recalling the moment, Captain Machchhar said: "I felt that the aircraft was going down. And I knew very clearly that this would be the last push. Smit, do it. The door is right there... I just managed to open it, sir, and everyone else came out. And everyone else also played an equally important role."
Paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji at Vijay Ghat.
Their lives of simplicity, courage and service to the nation continue to inspire generations.
Their ideals and unwavering commitment to India's progress will always remain a guiding light for us.
I’m greatly relieved that all the passengers on flyDubai1073 are safe, and I applaud Captain Smit Machchhar of India and the many Israelis who displayed such heroism in preventing what could have been a horrible tragedy.
Their brave action saved countless lives, and I wish for their continued safety as today’s events are thoroughly investigated. My thanks to those in Saudi Arabia as well for their warmth, hospitality, and professionalism in dealing with this emergency.
The courage displayed aboard Flydubai Flight 1073 is nothing short of extraordinary.
Israeli citizen Yaniv Hayun saw a plane full of innocent people in danger and acted without hesitation. His bravery, alongside the actions of Captain Smit Machchhar and others on board, helped save 174 lives, including four Americans.
God bless these heroes and the message they send to radicalized terrorists plotting attacks around the world:
Good will always triumph over evil.
Flydubai Captain Smit Machchhar and the passengers and crew who rushed the cockpit aboard Flight 1073 showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable terror.
Their heroism saved more than 170 lives on board and averted an even greater tragedy on the ground.
I am grateful to Captain Machchhar, the passengers, and the crew on board for their bravery and quick action.

GA-07 is home to an incredible Indian community, and today we honor one of its own.
Captain Smit Machchhar showed extraordinary courage and selflessness, protecting his passengers and crew despite being seriously injured.
A true hero.
An Indian captain, an Emirati crew and Israeli passengers, all acting within moments of each other on flight FZ1073. Captain Smit Machchhar's refusal to give up in that cockpit gave everyone else the chance to act.
India is proud of him, and grateful to all who stepped in.
