His mother Sangita Devi says, “This incident happened on the 25th (April). We were not at home at that time. While we were on the train, we got the news in the morning that my son Mohit had met with an accident. At first, I thought he might have just fallen from a bike and suffered minor injuries. But when we reached the hospital, my son was in severe pain and crying. The doctors said that both his legs might have to be amputated. His condition had become very serious. We didn’t know where to take him or how to save his legs… Right now, he is admitted in Safdarjung Hospital. My son Mohit used to love dancing; he would go out with his friends for dance battles and events…So far, there has been no proper police action. We were misled, and they showed us footage in a confusing way. When we carefully saw it, it looked like my son was being beaten and then running away. They claimed he was drunk, but if he had been intoxicated, how could he have crossed such a busy highway? There were many vehicles, he could have been hit. My son was found near Pratap Nagar. We believe four boys attacked him after taking him along somewhere. We don’t know all their names yet. Our demand is simple, we want justice and strict punishment for those responsible.”
