We are building a more resilient economic foundation across the Indo-Pacific, and ASEAN is an important partner in that work. In 2025, our trade in the region exceeded $52 billion. By concluding the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement, we can further reduce barriers, improve market access, and create new opportunities for trade and investment.
Today, Canada announced more than $10 million in new initiatives that will help create the conditions for that partnership to grow — strengthening biosecurity, combating financial crime, protecting children from exploitation, supporting migrant workers, and advancing women’s leadership across ASEAN.
