Thanks for all your support and I hope it was useful. Sorry to bail out so early - I thought I could sustain this - but I was wrong. That said, I will continue to advocate for independent literary fiction: it just won't be in this form.

You've probably guessed by now that I'm closing this blog. A few reasons why:

(1) mental health - I've suffered from anxiety for 15 years, exacerbated by attempting too much
(2) time commitments - I was recently signed by an agent for my first novel (so need to write my second)

(3) work-life balance - I love reading and thinking about books, but it's a leisure activity first and foremost, and without making a career of it I can't give indie books even a fraction of the time they need

@Influxpress I'm with @MothersMilkBks on both @commapress and @nightjarpress too - class act, both of them, and what Comma Press are doing for the short story is inspiring. And @UnthankBooks, whose "Unthology" series are a treasure trove of undiscovered gems.

@Influxpress I'm new to this game, but I love, love, love what @CharcoPress are doing. They give me hope for the future of publishing, as do both @GalleyBeggars, and @FitzcarraldoEds - the work of people who love and care deeply about getting the best writing out. And yourselves, of course.
