The only solace I can get from the horrors Ukraine has endured, is the bravery of their countrymen and the international collaboration against Putin. This includes the Russian people who are uprising. Zelenskyy has some thermonuclear balls.

@matthew_pullan Saying that because no invasion happened while Trump was in power doesn’t provide any weight to why they didn’t invade back then compared to now, there are so many other global factors involved.

@matthew_pullan The issue that going to war for Ukraine which isn’t under NATO jurisdiction would have escalated ten fold, openly stating de-escalating messages on public media doesn’t necessarily mean this will be the case. The interests of gas in Europe is only one concern over many.

@matthew_pullan Perhaps this was a de-escalation technique as Putin already threatens nuclear warfare (wether or not he’d actually do it who knows), we need to tread carefully due to the risk of nuclear war which would be catastrophic for all sides.

@matthew_pullan I understand that, but perhaps other factors such as Covid played a larger role towards this. Regardless, the role of the US only plays so much of a role towards Putins intentions and goals.

It is not partisan to point out that it's profoundly disturbing that the former President of the United States was calling Putin a genius on the eve of the largest invasion in Europe since World War II. It's a fact. This isn't normal but we have become numbed to it.

Away with James for a few weeks in Bath. What beautiful Georgian architecture! Absolutely what I needed on my annual leave.. on the way back to the hotel James just says “do your thing” as he sees a woman having a seizure. Nursing isn’t just in hospital, it’s everywhere! 🚑
