Introducing the ‘Ask Me Anything’ series.

Over the last two decades, I’ve worked across different areas of animal protection in India - engaging with the legal system, working with institutions, sensitizing enforcement agencies, and teaching students and professionals.

One thing that has remained constant is how much confusion exists around animal welfare laws, what actually counts as cruelty, and what people can realistically do when they witness harm.

So I’m starting this series to answer your questions directly.

@dogitization @narendramodi There is a serious lack of awareness and no active campaign on this issue. I personally reported cases of street dogs licking water stains from the road due to extreme thirst. I purchased water bowls and urged nearby residents to help, but no help.

I carry oceans of gratitude for the eminent counsels who stood today for the street dogs of our nation, pro bono.

They spoke not only for compassion, but for public safety and the sanctity of the rule of law. In their voices echoed the conscience of a Bharat that has long revered every living being.

Today, before the Hon’ble Supreme Court, they helped tilt the scales towards justice.

The Court has reserved its order, we await, later today, to learn if we have succeeded in defending the constitutional and cultural values that define who we are as a people.
