A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck 36 km NNE of Suez, Egypt, at a depth of 10 km. The epicenter is located near the Gulf of Suez, one of the Middle East's most active seismic regions.
This area marks the northern extension of the Red Sea Rift, where the African Plate and the Arabian Plate are slowly moving apart. The Gulf of Suez contains numerous active normal faults capable of producing moderate earthquakes.

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake occurred 60 km west of Bahía de Lobos, Mexico, at a depth of 10 km. The epicenter was located offshore in the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez), a region shaped by the interaction between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate.
This area experiences frequent earthquakes due to active transform faults and spreading centers that accommodate the motion between these tectonic plates.
