Today, on July 17, we commemorate the #MH17 tragedy, in which 298 innocent lives, including 196 Dutch citizens, were lost.

It's encouraging to meet friends of Ukraine in far-flung corners of the world. Many thanks to @NLinCanada and @UKRinCAN for organizing the Ottawa Friends of Ukraine Group meeting. In a meaningful discussion with @InesCoppoolse, @kovaliv_y, and @IrwinCotler, moderated by Prof. Payam Akhavan, we delved into the essential aspects of global accountability architecture.

Holding the Russian state and each individual perpetrator accountable for their crimes is imperative for restoring and upholding the rules-based world order. If our current international legal frameworks fall short, we must stand united, be proactive, and be willing to invest in new initiatives.

The participation of a large audience of diplomats, experts, and representatives of international NGOs in our meeting is a powerful testament to global solidarity with Ukraine. Such collective engagement and commitment strengthens my conviction that together, we can #StopRussia and restore justice and peace.
