What a way to start a Friday - the excitement was palpable in Year 1 as the children released the butterflies out into the world after following their development and taking care of them all the way from caterpillars. 🐛🦋❤️
You guessed it, it is the 100th Day in Reception! Such a fun day of counting, sorting, markmaking, crafting, problem-solving, constructing and collaborating. And so many wonderful numerical, patterned or shape-celebrating costumes, too! 💯😍
Today we celebrated our traditional Red & Gold Day with fun games, Chinese music lessons and a special streamed Lion Dance, plus a video full of Jnr musical talent and well wishes from the Heads of Infs/Jnrs to welcome the year of the tiger. Gong xi fa cai!
Our wonderfully creative library team have created a beautiful tree with all the children's ideas written on leaves for ways we can show kindness in celebration of World Kindness Day a couple of weekends ago.
Year 2 have had an amazing time on their Forest Adventures over the last two weeks! They've been planting, watering and learning how to whittle as they explore our new Forest School site on campus with the Outdoor Ed team.
Nursery even joined in with the House Day fun with transient art and collage, decorating their house t-shirts or shields, or making a house colour rangoli pattern to celebrate Diwali. Huge thanks to Mrs Gilbert and the House leaders for their organisation of this fabulous day!
House Day fun continues in the classrooms with children making connections with other team mates by designing and publishing their own 'All About Me' t-shirts, or making a named paper chain with all of their House mates 'linked' together throughout the morning.
The first official whole school House Day and SMMs aren't going to get in the way of team building! The Infants have been drumming their House rhymes with the music team on the astro and each class was very excited to get a visit from Griff the Lion, with all his house badges!
🎶Can't stop the music 🎶 Nursery are enjoying their socially distanced Taiko drumming lessons. They aren't allowed to sing the nursery rhymes but they certainly can mark the beat of them!
Year 2 are totally immersed in their @clpe1 text 'Leaf'. These letters illustrate the sense of purpose in their writing, as well as the empathy, inference and awareness that is invoked by such a rich depth of study. ❤️
Created using 500 resin cubes containing objects donated by children and staff symbolising this moment in time. 'Emergence', by Mona Choo, sponsored by TTS Foundation. Sad to see you go Mona, but grateful you are leaving us this stunning installation. ❤️ https://t.co/Jnbesh3wuu
How very exciting, our first Nursery trip to the campus Forest School with Mrs McCormack! We sat in our base camp, learned some of the basic rules (no pick, no lick, have fun), and had a little explore. We loved that the recent rain made the slippery hill so challenging to climb!
Charlie the orangutan was there at the start of the year to welcome all of the children and help them settle in, and here he is back again helping our counsellors Jo and Pippa as children transition to their new classes. The children LOVE Charlie!
Inspired by their transition suitcases, the Y2 children have been writing letters to their new teachers. They are certainly ready for their next adventure! ❤️
Whilst transition cannot follow our ideals due to current restrictions, Y2 have been involved in a lovely project based on Paddington, 'packing' their own suitcases with all of their Infant school skills, character strengths and memories as well as Junior school hopes and dreams.
A very exciting Pajamarama House Day for Y1 and Y2 today, with everyone coming to school in their PJs, virtual visiting author Will Mabbit making us all giggle and a whole range of reading activities and book-related problems to solve! 📚📘📖💕
Once on board, children remember to pay attention to the safety instructions before doing pre-flight checks and taking off. Once they land, exploration (research) can begin! The children are having so much fun pretending, hopefully we'll soon get to do it again for real!
