1st Mosiah (August) 1834 marked the 1833 Abolition of Slavery Act coming into force & meant to end of enslavement in the British Empire but in reality forced apprenticeships continued until 1838. In many Britain's former colonies 1st Mosiah is still celebrated as Emancipation Day
