London City Airport's plans to fly bigger planes and have flights all weekend were hit by hundreds of complaints. You can now use @_wearepossible’s helpful tool to register your views today! 1/2

“It’s time to ban private jets,” Julien Bayou, says the national secretary of the Greens in France. “It’s the measure that would penalise the smallest number of people for the biggest and most immediate impact in favour of the climate.” https://t.co/DksDs6FMtQ
"if the idea that you can invest money & make your carbon footprint disappear sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is ... most offsets don’t reliably reduce emissions, and yet offsets" are now a key part of the policies of many huge CO2 emitters https://t.co/H7U6ddTdBe
Jet Zero is the govt's 'strategy' to decarbonise flying. It's a disgrace and will make climate change worse. This article in the Big Issue looks at what airlines say about how to make flying zero carbon. If it wasn't so serious, it would almost be funny

First log on 6:21 am, when do u think it becomes a headache? Nervousness? Or anxiety.. after 1 hr of constant noise?,2hrs? 3hrs? Every 90 seconds is basically - constant. Repeat landings are bad4kids and other living things.@frontlinepbs@60Minutes@iamjohnoliver
Great article. One airline's response
“This data must however have regard to commercial considerations, ensuring that competitiveness is not damaged....”
In other words, distort the truth if it suits you...😭

"Flying lower and flying straight over the neighborhoods started last year. With the introduction of the NextGen navigation, every 2 to 3 minutes. Every morning, afternoon and evening. You never know when it starts and ends. Relaxing sitting outside is over because of the noise."
'Son of Concorde' could take to the skies as American company becomes third airline to place order for Boom Supersonic jets. Big noise concerns hardly mentioned. https://t.co/L9Bnsidkne
@UK_CAA "we recognise that a more efficient use of airspace will
generate additional capacity, in turn potentially leading to more flights and increased emissions." @ACOG_UK
"..conclusive evidence demonstrate that exposure to noise, primarily from traffic sources, may affect the central nervous system & brain, thereby contributing to increased risk of neuropsychiatric disorders such as stroke, dementia and cognitive decline,"

Be very careful of those little words "airspace modernisation" and claims that life will be quieter with higher planes. It won't. It will be used to precision guide more planes closer together. Airport expansion by the back door. That's why the industry is spending money on it...
"For now, though, reducing flights as much as possible remains our best option for limiting the large climate impact of this sector."
We agree. No airport expansion and no "airspace modernisation" (if air can be modernised) to cram more planes into the sky

“Unsustainable flight noise has had a devastating impact on the people of Brisbane” impacted communities don’t always give up @yourHeathrow @acog_uk https://t.co/TGZIfPUuVH
A pre-Covid picture of a City and Heathrow plane over Stockwell. Today it seems we are back to those days in SE London which gets planes from both airports when there is a light east wind.
How long before London City is tempted to bring back its expansionist MasterPlan?
