President Museveni Reaffirms NRM's Commitment to Fighting Poverty Through Wealth Creation

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reiterated that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) remains focused on transforming the lives of Ugandans by tackling poverty through education, wealth creation, and job creation.

Speaking in Kyankwanzi during a meeting with Ugandans who recently returned from South Africa, President Museveni encouraged the returnees, especially the youth, to seize opportunities in commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), describing these sectors as the key drivers of sustainable prosperity.

The President assured the returnees that the Government would support their reintegration into society by strengthening their Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisation (SACCO), enabling them to rebuild their livelihoods and create lasting economic opportunities.

He also urged Ugandans working abroad under difficult conditions to consider returning home and take advantage of the growing opportunities available in Uganda, emphasizing that the country offers a conducive environment for enterprise and self-reliance.

President Museveni further reflected on Uganda's longstanding support for South Africa during the anti-apartheid struggle, noting that it was unfortunate for fellow Africans to be treated as "xenos" on their own continent.

He concluded by extending his heartfelt condolences to the families of the three Ugandans who lost their lives in South Africa, praying for strength and comfort during their time of grief.
