One day, this spirit of reconnection will become a new glorious chapter in the previously obscured history laid out by @hofrench in his magnificent Born in Blackness: Africa, Africans, and the Making of the Modern World, 1471 to the Second World War https://t.co/nq0WVgCOZD
5/ I was deeply appreciative of H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta honouring Amb King with the national honour of C.B.S on 23rd July 2021. It was richly deserved by this extraordinary diplomat. Thank you @SVG_UN for leaving a lasting mark. More about the award https://t.co/qICPhto2YA
4/ What did the +1 achieve in the #UNSC? African positions were taken seriously: pen-holders had to contend with the #A3Plus1 position or its proposals were unlikely to succeed. In every situation in Africa before the UNSC, we drove an independent & often effective position
3/ H.E. @ComradeRalph Gonsalves, the Prime Minister of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, embodies the boldness required to reconnect & unify African peoples. Find out more about #CARICOMAfrica2021 & the leading role of H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta https://t.co/lHoUnGPASd
2/ it brought life the AU's 6th region & demonstrated Pan-Africanism at the highest level. Reconnecting Africa with its diaspora is a historic task. The last time we did it we overthrew colonial empire. It is key to the protection of our liberty, security, dignity & prosperity
I am going to sorely miss Amb. Rhonda King, PR of @SVG_UN, in the #UNSC. And I think the Council is the poorer for the ending of SVG's term. Their principled alignment with the African position, as articulated by the @_AfricanUnion, will be remembered as a great historic act:
