@SaintEcclesia@just_me_annie_p@BreeSolstad It would depend on your meaning. The Orthodox don’t believe that it transubstantiates into literal material flesh, it’s not quantified the same way that the Romans quantify it. It is His body, but how and what that means exactly is a divine mystery.
@SaintEcclesia@just_me_annie_p@BreeSolstad It is not considered to be the Eucharist until it is consecrated by a priest on the altar. The bakers, or manufacturers in this case, aren’t handling the Eucharist.
@SaintEcclesia@just_me_annie_p@BreeSolstad Why do you have all that stuff in your bio, but you insist on being flippant and sarcastic about the sacrament left to us by Christ to participate in communion with Him?
@SaintEcclesia@just_me_annie_p@BreeSolstad It physically takes the form of bread, but Christ reassures us, multiple times, that it is his body. It’s taken on faith, and as something that we, as created beings, cannot understand, as it pertains to Christ’s uncreated Nature. We don’t take Christ for a liar.
@SaintEcclesia@just_me_annie_p@BreeSolstad I was describing what transubstantiation was. There are other positions (ie the Presence pertains to a divine mystery not the literal transformation of the bread into flesh). Simple matter of poor comprehension on your part. Hope that clears it up.
@SaintEcclesia@just_me_annie_p@BreeSolstad If you can’t get past your position of “all doctrines concerning the presence in the Eucharist are transubstantiation” I don’t think you’re cut out for anything more nuanced or in depth.
@SaintEcclesia@just_me_annie_p@BreeSolstad There are other doctrinal positions of the Presence in the Host outside of Transubstantiation (the bread transforming into literal material flesh). This is what I’m talking about, this is very basic stuff.
@SaintEcclesia@just_me_annie_p@BreeSolstad I’m not Roman Catholic, I don’t believe in transubstantiation. You replied sarcastically, I responded in kind. No, the bread is not considered to be The Body until it is blessed by a priest, so the bakers are not handling the Eucharist.
