@cyberpsvcho@ganseyyiii Do you know how many fics exist out there? You can scroll on AO3 for hours on end and see every flavor of fic. Just because a few fics diverge from canon does not minimize the canon material. Representation exists for the mainstream. Niche fics don’t affect it.
@cyberpsvcho@ganseyyiii Shane would still be marginalized even if he was bi. The vast majority of swapping identities in fic is for shipping purposes. Some people wanna write x reader, self insert, threesomes etc. Someone’s smut fic is not there to discern his struggles with identity.
@ganseyyiii What is problematic about writing a ship that doesn’t fit canon? Or an identity that doesn’t fit canon? It’s fictional writing about fictional people. They don’t have feelings to be protected because they’re not real. It doesn’t harm anyone in real life.
@sirslitsisback Adoption is absolutely a for-profit industry that relies on oppression (primarily poverty). Instead of assisting parents, the system traumatizes kids by literally trafficking them away. And instead of placing them with family, they place them with strangers who want to buy them
