We have two female NYSC corps members serving in our Office.

One is very friendly. She greets everyone, gets along with the staff, and people genuinely enjoy working with her.

The other can be quite rude. Staff members complain about her attitude regularly.

They’ll be passing out soon, and our boss asked HR to evaluate them because he wants to retain only one person.

The rude one is exceptionally smart. She joined the marketing department and has already closed a deal, while the friendly one is still learning and trying to figure out the job.

If they retain the rude one, she’ll likely produce great results, but her attitude is a major concern.

HR asked everyone for their opinion. Out of 10 staff members, 8 said they shouldn’t retain her. One person even volunteered to train the friendly one. 😂

Dangote admits how he almost sold 40% of Dangote Cement to Lafarge.

He went to see Lafarge Africa CEO and proposed an offer to sell 40% of his company and retain 60%.

They countered with 51% to Lafarge and 49% to Dangote. Alongside a clause that Dangote would never venture into cement again.

A young lecturer in my school became Dean a few months ago at just 38.

He defeated about five other lecturers and emerged winner.

A few days later, management received a petition alleging one of his Master’s results was fake.

Investigation confirmed it.

The first Master’s result he used to secure the job was fake. He later got a legitimate Master’s degree and submitted it to cover up the fake one.

I used to work for a certain bank where I was heavily involved in data analysis. One day, I decided to analyze customer accounts based on their balances. I categorized them into two groups: accounts with KSh 5,000 and above, and accounts with less than KSh 5,000.
The results were quite interesting. About 80% of account holders had balances below KSh 5,000, while only 20% had balances above KSh 5,000.

What was even more surprising was the distribution of the total deposits. The 80% of customers with balances below KSh 5,000 held only 20% of the bank's total deposits, while the 20% with balances above KSh 5,000 held 80% of the total deposits. The bank's management was also surprised by these findings, and they eventually created a separate banking service for customers with large deposits.

We went further and conducted research to understand the dynamics behind this pattern.
We found that those with balances below KSh 5,000 were mainly:
Tenants
Parents
Shoppers
Worshippers
Retailers

Most of them were salaried employees.

On the other hand, those with balances above KSh 5,000 were typically:
- Landlords
- Supermarket owners
- Manufacturers and wholesalers
- Churches
- Schools
- Other organizations

The reason was simple: these accounts received money from many people. In fact, we referred to them as "collection accounts."

The lesson I drew from this is that wealth is often built by creating systems, businesses, or assets that generate income from the efforts and transactions of many people, rather than relying solely on a salary.

One challenge is that many employed people never fully grasp this concept because a regular salary can sometimes limit their thinking about alternative ways of generating income and building wealth.
