Our recent paper explored the ecological consequences of crude oil spills on bird communities in the oil-rich Niger Delta area within the Afrotropics. We found that oil spills affected functional richness and diversity negatively. Please share and comment.

My 4th PhD paper explored how satellite remote sensing can enhance our understanding of bird diversity in Afrotropical urban and non-urban habitats. We found that the Modified Chlorophyll Absorption Ratio Index (MCARI) and the Normalized Difference Water Index II (NDWI2) are more effective indicators of avian diversity than the commonly used NDVI. Check out our findings and share your thoughts and this post!

📢 3rd PhD paper!
#Urbanization reduced bird #taxonomic diversity, but enhanced #functional & #phylogenetic diversity.
The study also shows that mosaic of #water bodies, #bushes & #trees could boost bird functional & phylogenetic diversity in urban areas.

This paper by my friend Adewale highlights how conservations action locally could have an impact globally. Well done @AdewaleAwoyemi https://t.co/4XAIyAmkk9
We are glad to announce the publication of our new article in the Journal of Ecology and Evolution. Here, we investigated how nocturnal birds such as nightjars and owls can be sampled in a tropical ecosystem.

Here, we highlight how the use of citizen science through institutions, community involvements, and engagements can further grow the capacity we need to conserve our declining biodiversity.

You should read this new paper from Adewale. It is quite interesting as he provides insight into human relationships with nature.
What are the drivers of human-nature interactions in Africa?
What are the correlations between real & perceived neighborhood urban nature?
Get the full gist from my 2nd PhD paper (open access).
