Take away, O my Jesus, the blindness of my heart, that I may know Thee; take away the hardness of my heart, that I may fear Thee; take away the coldness of my heart, that I may resist everything that is contrary to Thy will; take away its heavy, earthly sluggishness and selfishness, that I may be capable of heroic sacrifice for Thy glory, and for the souls whom Thou has redeemed with Thy own most precious blood.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have Mercy on me a sinner.
@jhaugan@MichaelsRosary@JamesDueck I'm going to guess you did a search and found the compiling of the bible is a lot more complex and now trying to save face with this paltry reply.
All good.
Peace to you.
I would counter you're conflating two things and making them into one which is not the case. The actual point of your post. The theology regarding partaking of both the Body and Blood is another subject. Let's stick to one yes?
Actual reverence for the Blood of Christ and the fear of having it being spilled is the cause for refraining communion under both kinds. Simply put, you don't treat the Blood of Christ carelessly which more easily can be spilled whether carelessly, accidentally, etc.
As to superstition being the cause... it wasn't. Historically unsustainable. Maybe you have historical evidence proving otherwise...
And the example of grandma, nice emotional touch I guess. 🤷♂️
@SwordMasterPub@catholicbob Well because the Church did give us the scriptures. She received them, recognized them and canonized them.
I don't think you believe a bible with all the books you believe are the inspired books fell from the sky... or do you?
You might as well stated "the Churches and church leaders on planet earth" 😂🤣
Apparently it is hard since you prefer to obfuscate instead of naming the Churches and church leaders.
Do you have the names of the Churches? The Church leaders? Dates? Lists?
It's okay to say you don't.
"Justin, it's sure been a while since we've had a gunslinger ballad..."
Yeah...I get it...
Two new gunslinger ballads are riding in. ⚔️🏜️
One drops this Thursday, August 20 — about three weeks late.
The other drops next Friday, August 28 — right on time.
One is a soldier whose plans got wrecked by the world’s most providential cannonball.
The other is… well, let’s just say August 28 is not exactly subtle.
Any guesses?

I asked because you confirmed your statement:
“Churches and church leaders had weeded out the false ones and recognized the authoritative ones. Grass roots movement ... like the Gospel itself.”
And then stated "things that never happened."
Let's try again, which Churches and church leaders "weeded out the false ones?"
I am very happy to share the translation of Fr. Elorduy’s article. A fascinating collection of historical testimonies and documents concerning the sanctity and virtues of the Doctor Eximius et Pius, compiled as preparatory material for the introduction of his beatification cause.
Gavin Ortlund just dropped a spicy short claiming the Bible has nothing like Catholic relics—and Jimmy Akin is having none of it. In this episode, Jimmy dismantles the short point by point, exposes a major Trent misquote, reveals the rich biblical evidence for honoring the dead and seeking help through relics, and shows why cultural differences don’t equal error. Fast, sharp, and packed with Scripture and history you won’t hear elsewhere.

@jhaugan@MichaelsRosary@JamesDueck You did post this:
“Churches and church leaders had weeded out the false ones and recognized the authoritative ones. Grass roots movement ... like the Gospel itself.”
Yes?
So you're saying two things that are seem contradictory.
- "No such organization existed" that "approved it."
But then you assert
- "Church and church leaders had weeded out the false ones and recognized the authoritative ones."
Which is it? It did exist or it didn't exist?
Can't be both.
Maybe you have a different definition for "organization" than the standard one...

@jhaugan@JamesDueck We know how the Bible came to be. What is your idea of how it happened? Which writings were selected and for what purpose was the Bible created?
