Myths That Shape History: Cultural Narratives Explained
Foundational myths are very important for reshaping history. When you look at the myths and the beliefs of a culture and the stories, they tell each other this has the effect of shaping history in the way that the people of that culture think it should have gone. They emphasize stories that cultivate a desirable image and minimize the less flattering ones. And the result is that myths provide if you like a sort of selective memory. It's the way in which societies frame their identities and justify their existence these myths are both the product and a perpetrator of the reshaping of history.
