Honest and thorough (but friendly!) editor who loves books and the people who write them. I also love summertime and cats. Lots of cats. #editor#amediting
Jealous of other writers? What exactly are you jealous of? Their ability? Keep writing, to improve your skill. Their success? Keep writing, to improve your chances. Their fans? Keep writing, to give readers something to love. Noticing a common theme? #writerslife#amwriting
@byMorganWright We do it sometime in December, but we don't have a traditional time. Just a day where we don't have a lot else going on. We live in Florida, so sometimes it happens very late because I keep forgetting it's Christmastime. π
Ink Deep Editing is happy to announce the hiring of a new editorial assistant, Luna! She specializes in lap sitting and inappropriate keyboard pressing. She's looking forward to helping with your next book -- but not as much as she's looking forward to playing with the laser. π
@Dario_Ciriello Comparing yourself to other writers can be healthy as long as you're doing it as an example you want to strive for and not as a way to put yourself down.

Imagine going to a doctor's appointment and finding out your doctor is out because she's experiencing "doctor's block." Sounds silly, right? So why do we let writer's block make the decision for us about whether to write? Take control and keep going! #writetip
In real life we βshoot the breeze.β In your novel, the dialogue has to count. If it doesnβt provide something vital to the story or characterization, cut it. #writetip
Integrate scene description into action to keep it interesting. Donβt tell us itβs sunny and hot. Show your character hurrying to put on her sunglasses and cranking up the AC in her car. #writetip
Editing isnβt one thing. There are different levels of editing with different goals. Make sure both you and your editor know what type of editing you are looking for before the edit begins. #writetip
Worried that your first draft is a hot mess? Relax! First drafts are about figuring it out, not perfecting it. All that floundering you are doing is important creative work. #writetip
@brimorganbooks In fifth grade, I did a research project on ancient Egypt and made a diorama of a pyramid out of styrofoam that I painted. I glued sand on the "ground" and put little people around it too (to scale, of course). My dad had that thing until I was 40. π
"Miranda was 5'10", much taller than her classmates." Ho hum. Let physical descriptions tell us about more than looks. E.g., "Miranda bent her tall frame over, trying not to stand out in the crowd of more reasonably sized tenth gradersβ shows mental state as well. #writetip
