@lucyisnotonline This is Pippin. He requires constant adoration. When he was recovering after a small surgery, he would growl every time they tried to return him to the little recovery cage, so one of the vet techs just kept him out and let him snuggle for 3 hours until I could collect him!

@MrsMFteach @Team_English1 It surprises the kids when I point out that the Porter, despite being framed as “comedy,” welcomes an equivocator (who sounds quite a lot like Macbeth) into hell just after Duncan’s murder; some productions even cast the same actor as “Seyton” (Macbeth’s remaining ally) in Act 5.

@Ka81 As a teacher - Aurora is totally right!! And the biggest aspect may be the tech. I think most teachers (not to mention parents) have no idea how much of teenagers’ lives happen online. Question: does Aurora think strict phone bans in school (e.g. phones locked away) are good?

And that there is massive pressure to perform at the level of schools, departments, and individual teachers all measured constantly in assessment scores? Success mostly isn’t viewed as subjective

@silvamay82 @FunkyPedagogy @Team_English1 For reading, I would make sure to address not losing the forest (character, atmosphere, messages) for the trees (vocab, terminology, quotes). Put another way, “how” should be in service of “why.”

For both reading/writing, students’ opinions & personal experiences are key.

@MrsSpalding I don’t give my students their mark/feedback until they are starting the next assessment, usually - the idea is that they then do a DIRT task that feels much more urgent because it’s tied immediately into doing well on their current assessment.

@GCSE_Macbeth The problem is then coming up with an effect that stems from it being *polyptoton* rather than just from the repetition. It’s certainly possible, but my students tend to slap on a fancy Greek name when what they really mean is “repetition” or “list.”

@UnofficialOA One of my Year 7s once worked Rick Astley lyrics into the middle of a Shakespearean monologue he’d written - read it all off completely in-character - got a standing ovation from the class. These moments give me life.
