Banning Citizen Vigilante only makes the message stronger.

Citizen Vigilante is a new 2026 action thriller from director Uwe Boll starring Armie Hammer as Sanders, a former U.S. Army officer who becomes a vigilante after witnessing violent crime in Europe.

Inspired by real criminal cases, the film follows Sanders as he targets criminals and what he sees as a justice system that has failed victims, turning him into a controversial folk hero.

The movie, which also stars Costas Mandylor, has sparked major debate over immigration, crime, vigilantism, free speech, and censorship.

After being denied an official rating by Germany's FSK, Citizen Vigilante was effectively blocked from theatrical distribution in the country, with Uwe Boll accusing authorities of political censorship.

Critics have condemned the film, while supporters argue it raises issues many Europeans feel are ignored.

The controversy surrounding Armie Hammer's return, the Germany ban, immigration, violent crime, and free speech has helped turn Citizen Vigilante into one of the most talked about and divisive movies of 2026.
