Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a very wicked man; "wicked" is even an understatement!

Since the debate on bringing back the fuel subsidy started, a lot has happened. His handlers now post ten times within 24 hours.

He has pandered to the Hausas, those he didn’t find worthy for juicy appointments. Now the governors have spoken. They said, “we are not responsible for the economic hardship.”

He quickly called APC governors to the Villa for an emergency meeting. Yesterday, his wife launched another audio $1 billion "Renewed Hopelessness" program. Meanwhile, they are still talking about CNG on paper after 3 years.

Something has shifted. Aso Rock is in panic mode. All their foot soldiers have been visiting media houses to try to persuade the public & calm angry nerves. They knew they could have done a lot to ease the suffering, but they are heartless. They have no humanity in them.

They removed the subsidy on fuel & electricity, yet subsidized their own lifestyles. Nigerians were left to suffer & gnash their teeth for 3 solid years. He borrowed recklessly & squandered it. Come 2027, we shall vote them out with anger

I am a Northern girl. But I am not the Northern girl you imagined.

When people hear “Northern Nigeria,” many immediately picture a Muslim Hausa woman.

That woman exists.

But so do I.

I am a Northern girl. I am Christian. I am not Hausa. I am Laka/Godogodo.

And sometimes explaining that feels like I am introducing myself three times before people finally understand where I come from.

The problem is that Northern Nigeria has been reduced to one religion, one language, one culture and one kind of woman.

But the North is not one people.

There are Christians. Traditionalists. Muslims. Indigenous ethnic groups. Minority languages. Women who wear hijab and women who don’t. Women who grew up in churches. Women who grew up in mosques. Women whose grandparents spoke languages most Nigerians have never even heard of.

We exist.

And I think one reason many people don’t know we exist is because we haven’t told our stories loudly enough.

So yes, I am a Northern girl.

Just not the version of Northern Nigeria you were taught to imagine.

Osun: While celebrating, let us also remember those who paid the ultimate price for democracy

Once again, I congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke and the good people of Osun State on the outcome of the election and, more importantly, on safeguarding the democratic process. The people have spoken through the ballot, reaffirming the fundamental principle that power belongs to the people.

As we celebrate this success, let's not forget those who made the supreme sacrifice for our democracy during the Osun election. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives under different circumstances during the electoral period. I believe these families deserve our collective compassion, solidarity, and support. I therefore hope that the families of those who lost their loved ones will be identified and reached through visits, condolences, and appropriate compensation, irrespective of the political side to which they belonged.

Elections should be about the people, their choices, and their aspirations — not about the loss of precious lives. No political victory is worth the blood of a Nigerian.

My prayer is that our democracy will continue to mature to a point where elections no longer come at the cost of human lives, and where political differences can always be settled through issue-based campaigns and the rule of law.

May God comfort all the families who have lost loved ones and grant the departed eternal rest.

In 1983 after the national election that saw Alhaji Shehu Shagari returned as the president of Nigeria. Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe who were the major opponents, and as such, major losers, lamented that the election was highly rigged.

Azikiwe went on to describe Shagari's victory as 'an inglorious victory'.

The young and eccentric Dr. Chuba Okadigbo who was the Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs fired back at Owelle of Onitsha and called his lamentations 'the rantings of an ant'.

Trust Nnamdi Azikiwe who many believed amongst many other things that he was a mystic. He responded to Chuba in words of this nature:

'My son, since you have decided to mock the wisdom of old age. You shall reach the apex of Nigerian politics. But at the height of your glory, you shall fall down and die unsung. If it is in the nature of the Igbos to have respect for old age let what I say come to pass. But if we do not, then let my words truly be the rantings of an ant'.

Well, within the space of few months or few weeks, the military struck and sacked Shagari's government. This means Okadigbo was out of power.

But this is not the main gist.

In 1999, Nigeria returned to democracy after more 15 years of military rule with a one year democratic interlude known as the Third Republic.

The return of the fourth Republic ushered Dr. Chuba Okadigbo into the senate. Within months, the Senate President, Evans Enwerem was impeached and the senate elected the most charismatic Senate President ever in the person of Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, Oyi of Oyi.

A Northern Senator once described Okadigbo as their lecturer while they his fellow senators are his students.

Okadigbo was held in high esteem as the number three man in Nigeria. During this period, he made sure the national assembly was not a rubber stamp body that was at the beck and call of the presidency. He insisted on clear separation of power.

At the height of Okadigbo's political glory, impeachment proceeding started based on phony accusations of embezzlement. It was clear the Executive arm of government led by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo were tired of Oyi's grip on the senate and his non tolerance of executive interference in legislative business.

Okadigbo fought all he could to resist his impeachment to the extent of taking the senate mace all the way from Abuja to hide in Ogbunike cave. But he failed.

His descent has begun!

Okadigbo's impeachment was shameful. His, political sagacity, popularity, charm and likability which were his greatest asset couldn't help him.

The propounder of political mathematics was not only impeached but was bulldozed out of PDP. Consequently, he couldn't return to the senate after 2003. He went to ANPP and joined Buhari as his running mate.

As an opposition politician, he experienced how Azikiwe felt when he and Buhari believed they were rigged out. They organized a political rally to register(rant) their displeasure. It was at this rally that he was teargassed by policemen sent to disperse them.

Oyi of Oyi died from complications resulting from that very incident. His burial was supposed to be a gathering of who is who in the country.

Unfortunately, his burial coincided with the visit of Queen Elizabeth to Nigeria. All the powerful politicians that were supposed to attend his burial in Anambra State to give him the befitting farewell he deserved where all in Abuja receiving the Queen of England.

One may ask, what is the moral of this historical piece? Well, stories are told either to teach the wise or to remind the living about temperance.
One of the reasons why I'm posting it to the group, let's learn to respect elders, no matter the circumstances.

You have seen the way he is being consistently dragged by Igbos since this scandal started? That was the exact way Orji Uzor Kalu was also dragged and called out when he was convicted.

That is South East for you. No matter who you are, if you do something that doesn't resonate with the conscience of the people, they will surely drag you.

This is what we consistently beg other regions to do. When someone is not doing well, call him out even though he/she is your kinsman.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same for so many people who would rather drink poison, just because it was served with their tribal cup.

Suspension of Examination Fees: A Victory for the People

I received the welcome news of the suspension of the newly introduced examination fees with relief. This is a victory for the Nigerian people.

While I commend the authorities for listening to the widespread public outcry and suspending the policy, it must be said that the fee was an unnecessary burden that should never have been introduced at this time of great hardship, when we should be doing everything possible to invest in basic education and reduce the millions of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

At a time when many families are struggling to make ends meet, access to education should be expanded, not restricted. Education is a fundamental right and a public good, not a source of government revenue.

Imposing multiple fees at the basic education level risks denying many children their right to education. At that stage, the State has a duty to invest in educating and preparing its citizens for productive lives, not to erect financial barriers that keep them out of school.

True leadership is demonstrated not only by making decisions but also by having the humility to reverse policies that impose unnecessary hardship on the people. Many other anti-people policies deserve similar reconsideration.

I thank the citizens, parents, and advocacy groups whose voices made this reversal possible.
