Innoflight Supports Critical Proximity Operations on Historic Artemis II Crewed Lunar Mission
Innoflight, a pioneer in cyber secure space avionics, announced that its Compact Flight Computer (CFC-400XS) supported the Artemis II mission’s 70-minute Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) demonstration. The demonstration was a key milestone in advancing human deep space exploration through the first crewed lunar mission in more than 50 years.
The RPO maneuver was conducted between NASA’s Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System’s (SLS) Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage (ICPS). During this operation, Orion executed a series of navigation exercises, including both manual and automated maneuvers, demonstrating precise control while operating near another spacecraft.

Innoflight was pleased to participate in the panel discussion, “The Latency Arbitrage: Calculating the ROI of In-Orbit Computing vs. Direct-to-Ground,” at SmallSat Europe last week in Amsterdam.
During the discussion, Vincent Gagnon, Chief Revenue Officer at Innoflight, highlighted that while communications link throughput has improved significantly in recent years, the growing volume of space-generated data continues to create transport bottlenecks. As a result, on-board processing is becoming increasingly critical to filter, analyze, and act on data before transmission to the ground.
This trend is reflected in the rising demand Innoflight has seen for advanced edge computing capabilities in space. Innoflight’s integrated avionics suite brings together processing, storage, timing, networking, encryption, and communications within a unified architecture designed to minimize latency and maximize mission efficiency at the space vehicle level.
Thank you to the organizers and fellow panelists for an engaging discussion on the future of in-orbit computing and data-driven space missions.
