@kimmelman wrote @Guggenheim's Countryside: The Future “gets people to think . . . because city and country, urban and rural, are ultimately not separate issues." Rural communities have long known this; nice to see city-folk are finally catching up. https://t.co/hh6CwMKjFP

Beneath the Mona-Lisa-smile of the inimitable #JohnDRockefeller, the equally inimitable @JosetteSheeran & I shook hands. We discussed her role as president @AsiaSociety, @japansociety mutual legacy & opportunities for future work & the unique position shared by our organizations!
I wrote about the ways non-Japanese filmmakers see Tokyo: tourist trap, a den of cats and sin, and as a city for those who try and fail at love, for @NewYorker! Feat. the auteurs who've trekked there: Coppola/Marker/Carax/Bong Joon-ho/Herzog/Kiarostami: https://t.co/XMAGVYxBRn
Otsukaresamadeshita! Thank you for coming to see us. It was great visiting the office of @venture4america with you.
Our president @drjwalk also was very impressed with your work and hope to pursue avenues of collaboration.
Happy Birthday, Yasujiro Ozu! Your attention and appreciation to details were such that the higher power let you disappear from this earth on the day you were born. How neat.
Today is #YasujiroOzu's day (Dec. 12, 1903-Dec. 12, 1963). The young director at age 8, wearing a sumo "mawashi" he made himself, and with Setsuko Hara and Chishu Ryu.

We deeply mourn the passing of Paul A. Volcker, a member of Japan Society's Board and Life Director for over four decades, and indefatigable advocate in the promotion of U.S.-Japan relations. Our gratitude is immeasurable, and our deepest condolences go out to all his loved ones.
Dr. Testu Nakamura was a paragon of Japan’s soft power in Afghanistan. He was the most famous Japanese aid worker who devoted more than 30 years to improving the medical environment in Afghanistan and Pakistan who will be sorely missed.
Truly a historic moment as we celebrated the legacy of Ambassador Sakurai who faithfully led @japansociety for over a decade w/ help from our board chairman Joe Perella & search committee co-chair Jun Makihara & our staff family, past & present. Ganbarimasu!
Today is #GivingTuesday! Individuals like you allow us to help further U.S. – Japan relations through hundreds of cultural, learning, and policy events, and we couldn’t do it without your help! Support Japan Society with your tax deductible donation: https://t.co/jMokNd5Sh6
In this season of thanksgiving, there has never been a more important moment to appreciate Japan for the new innovations and developments that build on its ancient traditions making it a soft power superpower. Check out my latest here in @japantimes https://t.co/VDVSXXrCVK
Researchers behind a major worldwide entrepreneurship report opt to consider one-person businesses part of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. This represents a big break with traditional thinking that only scalable businesses matter. https://t.co/lXNk6qHRiz
If you need a break from #thanksgiving festivities this week, sit down and read our Rural Development Hubs Report. Lots of valuable lessons inside on #ruralinnovation - The Aspen Institute https://t.co/jTwR1qI2aN via @aspeninstitute
Members of the House of Representatives participate in a disaster prevention drill on how to wear helmets should earthquake strikes. (I like it that it's a foldable helmet. IN staff) #Japan
Always great to see friends like @SamPotolicchio in print especially when they include killer quotes being featured with @ianbremmer on "Surviving the Trump Era," have to read Japanese to follow along I'm afraid!
