In 2023, a Polish TV documentary claimed that Cardinal Karol Wojtyla, the future St. John Paul II, covered up clerical sexual abuse when he led the Archdiocese of Kraków. The claim made international headlines.
Now, for the first time, the archdiocesan archives have been opened to researchers, and two independent investigative journalists say the documents tell a very different story.
Their conclusion: when Cardinal Wojtyla learned of abuse, he took swift, decisive action: suspending priests, removing them from ministry, and in one case ordering a psychiatric evaluation that investigators called "ahead of its time."

This war has laid bare much, and having seen it, we cannot now unsee it. A new paganism has taken charge of our world. It’s not just that might is right. Might is blessed.
The Christians of the Holy Land are appealing to Irish pilgrims to come back to the sacred sites - @MichaelPTKelly was blessed to spend time there last week. We will soon announce details of special solidarity pilgrimages. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime blessing.
Thanks to @dquinn for his part in exposing the deep rot at the heart of @dfatirl and the way it attempts to negate the great women of Ireland and their contribution in so many parts of the world. St Bridget, pray for us.
Relativism is the root crisis in our world. When you relativise things like the right-to-life and whether one is male or female, you create a post-truth world where lies are the order of the day. https://t.co/fD92KrfHC2
We are beginning a new catechesis series dedicated to the Second Vatican Council and to a fresh reading of its Documents. The Council's Magisterium remains even today the North Star guiding the Church’s journey. #GeneralAudience https://t.co/PIm9DbQ3oI

From the new head of Castleknock College, Elaine Kelly: “Gen Z – that cohort of young male boys – they are returning to their spiritual lives, to their faith, to their own spirituality; that sense of reflection. Because there’s nothing actually else out there for them. There’s nothing at the end of a mobile phone. It’s vacuous. It’s empty.” https://t.co/0JXrRUEMBU
@MichaelPTKelly I think he read the follow up to The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail namely The Messianic Legacy - claiming that we are a Pauline Church.
Tor Vergata 25 years later.
The youth are different. The Pope is different.
The power of Jesus Christ to gather remains the same.
An incredible event that socio-political categories fail to explain, because these young people are in the world but not of the world.
