Oh. 𝙊𝙪𝙘𝙝. She knew she deserved it, but 𝙙𝙖𝙢𝙣 did it sting. Her excited demeanor shifts almost instantly, and she retracts from Chloe, taking a step and a half or so back.
She's never really wanted to disappear as much as she does now.
"Chloe, I—. . ."
There was no —
— excuse, and Max knew that too. There was absolutely nothing she could say that could explain away her behavior. And maybe they weren't friends anymore. She had spent hours telling herself that surely they were still friends. They were Max and Chloe, they came as a pair, —
"Heeeeyyyyyy."
Was that awkward? Of course it was. Max Caulfield? Having social skills? Impossible.
"Oh, uh, not a lot! Just... trying to figure out what to do with my life this summer..."
There's a pause. Way to go, Max. Way to be even MORE awkward.
"What about you?"
Taps on @callamasties's shoulder, hands immediately clasping behind her back shortly thereafter.
Has it been a hot minute since they last spoke? Perhaps so. Hopefully all goes well.
