This is sad news on multiple fronts - for those of us who worked there, for our friends and colleagues at BioWare who are impacted, and for fans who were looking forward to the next Mass Effect adventure.
I started my career at BioWare and will forever be grateful to the founders, Greg and Ray, for inviting me to join in BioWare's legendary journey. Its legacy will live on through those who were part of it and continue to create games through a passion for unforgettable stories, worlds and characters.
Bioware has been a massive part of CDPR history. We befriended them when localizing and selling Baldur’s Gate games in Poland, Czech, and Slovakia. And later they were great help when lending us their engine for Witcher 1, sharing their wisdom and even giving us a spot at their booth at E3. I had a pleasure to visit them a few times in Edmonton and also host them in our Warsaw office. Very sad for the people affected, but also sad to see a legendary brand go down. Not a great day in the games industry.
Bloomberg and Variety report that multiple sources have confirmed that DICE and Respawn Entertainment are working together on a new #StarWarsBattlefront title for Lucasfilm.
In a memo sent to EA employees, EA executives Cam Weber and David Tinson touted #Battlefield6 has been a great success, and they've learned a lot from the launch and the live service.
"We're going to take those learnings, balance our resources, and leverage the technology to deliver a shooter portfolio that unlocks growth. In addition to our future Battlefield titles, we'll be bringing together our Respawn and DICE studios to collaborate on a future project that will help us achieve that ambition. We can't wait to share more when the time comes."

Heartbreaking to hear of the closure of BioWare and the next Mass Effect ending development.
I had so much fun collaborating with Casey and the team on the Mass Effect teaser in 2020 -- during the height of COVID.
I hope one day, somehow, Mass Effect will return.
¿A ustedes les pasó de haber visto alguna escena de Los Simpsons cuando eran chicxs, volver a verlo ya en la adultez y entender realmente lo que quisieron decir?
A mi me pasó con la escena de “Milhouse no cuenta”
@c_nute15 You're not supposed to enjoy things nowadays! What were you thinking?
Also, it has women that are part of —but not the focus of— the story and as the characters they are, they speak, so that's bad for some reason.
I find this very hard to believe.
A "console" is a mass-audience device and you need great games and a low entry price (IMO $399 to $499). A console at the prices rumored below will never sell meaningful units to be of any value vs. alternatives. Zero.
I wouldn't release it at all.
Stick with PS5 Pro/Series X until prices normalize. The capabilities of those boxes are both fine for 99% of the audience. No one is screaming "I need a more powerful console" right now and I believe tons of optimization can and is happening on those platforms (see Xbox's AMD announcement on FSR 4.1 today - which is fantastic).
