As a Catholic Christian, my children belong to God. They are baptized and, as my children are young enough, without personal sin... therefore salvation for them I know is guaranteed. Though I will be absolutely gutted, saddened and heart broken at their deaths, I will rejoice in their everlasting life and hope to see them once again.
@redeemed_zoomer@catholiccom Is this the same man who belongs to a church which actively promotes an ideology that is brazenly against Biblical teaching?
Nice try but...
Matthew 5:25-26
25 Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are on the way to court with him, or your accuser may hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you will be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.
Who is the judge?
What is the "prison"?
What do you have to pay or else you'll "never get out"?
1 Corinthians 3:13-15
13 the work of each builder will become visible, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each has done. 14 If what has been built on the foundation survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If the work is burned up, the builder will suffer loss; the builder will be saved, but only as through fire.
Judged by our works through fire on our day of judgement. If the fire consumes our work we suffer loss but will still be saved. Sounds like a purification/purgation process to me.
Revelation 21:27
27 But nothing unclean will enter it, nor anyone who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
When we die do you think there is still attachment to sin on us? That uncleanliness must be purged before we can enter the New Jerusalem.
Hebrews 12:14
14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord
Matthew 12:31-32
31 Therefore I tell you, people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
Seems that scripture says something different...
James 5:16
16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
John 20:23
23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
Luke 17:3-4
3 Be on your guard! If another disciple sins, you must rebuke the offender, and if there is repentance, you must forgive. 4 And if the same person sins against you seven times a day, and turns back to you seven times and says, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive.”
Matthew 6:14-15
14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; 15 but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
The theif on the cross who was suffering an excruciating form of punishment and death? Who defended the 2nd Person of the Holy Trinity (Christ Jesus) while He was being mocked? Who had asked God the Son to "remember him"?
Jesus told him that "today you will be with me in paradise." However Christ did not ascend to Heaven that day. In fact, Christ did not return to Heaven until 40+ days later. So the question then is, where did Christ go after His death? Where ever that was it must've been where the "Good Theif" went. Historically this has been taught as "Abraham's bosom" a place of perfect happiness where the souls of the righteous waited for the Christ.
Matthew 5:25-26
25 Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are on the way to court with him, or your accuser may hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you will be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.
What prison are those accused to be thrown into by the judge (God) but still be able to get out of after the full payment is made?
@JohnPollux2792@CatholicKyle@FatherChrisVor1 Are you referring to the 23 suri juris Eastern Catholic Churches which are in full communion with the Bishop of Rome? Plus the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter which is not technically its own Church but has its own Bishops and liturgy distinct from the Latin (Roman) Rite.
"It needs to be said clearly: There are those who systematically work by all means to drive away migrants, and this, when done knowingly and deliberately, is a grave sin," he said during his general audience Aug. 28."
Now let's see how this compares to official Catholic teaching:
Catholic Catechism paragraph 2241:
"The more prosperous nations are obliged, to the extent they are able, to welcome the foreigner in search of the security and the means of livelihood which he cannot find in his country of origin. Public authorities should see to it that the natural right is respected that places a guest under the protection of those who receive him.
Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants' duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens."
Hmmm... prosperous nations have a duty to help those unfortunate, as far as they are able. And they can subject those migrants to just laws in order to safeguard the country.
So those who break the laws of the country they immigrate too are justifiably removed by said country. There is a legal path to living and working in a country and that should be followed.
I grant that the path is currently convoluted and cumbersome but it is still the way.
A doctrine defines and explains proper Christian belief. "Christians" cannot agree on what one must do to be saved or who can be called "Christian."
Must one be baptized to be saved?
How should one be baptized?
What words must be said to be baptized?
Who can be baptized?
How man times can one be baptized?
Who is God?
Is God One?
Is the Father, the Son?
Is the Father the Holy Spirit?
Is Jesus God?
Was Jesus always God?
Was Jesus only a man and Christ was God?
Is Jesus both God and man?
Did God die on a cross and rise from the dead?
Can one lose their justification before death?
"Christians" argue over each other's flawed understang of God's revealed word and basically claim that God reveals the truth to them. Yet they disregard that God established a Church to reveal all truth and be protected from error. Not that men would be kept from sin, but that His bride would always teach THE truth.
People commit sin and priests are not exempt either.
"Can. 751 Heresy is the obstinate denial or obstinate doubt after the reception of baptism of some truth which is to be believed by divine and Catholic faith;"
Catechism:
Chastity and homosexuality
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,140 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."141 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
2358 ...These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.
What good is an infallible source without an infallible interpreter?
The gift of tongues is from God yet Paul says that without an interpreter that gift should be silent.
1 Corinthians 14:27-28
"27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, it must be by two or at the most three, and each one in turn, and one is to interpret; 28 but if there is no interpreter, he is to keep silent in church; and have him speak to himself and to God."
The document does say:
22. Given the necessity of explaining Mary’s subordinate role to Christ in the work of Redemption, it is always inappropriate to use the title “Co-redemptrix” to define Mary’s cooperation. This title risks obscuring Christ’s unique salvific mediation and can therefore create confusion and an imbalance in the harmony of the truths of the Christian faith, for “there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). When an expression requires many, repeated explanations to prevent it from straying from a correct meaning, it does not serve the faith of the People of God and becomes unhelpful. In this case, the expression “Co-redemptrix” does not help extol Mary as the first and foremost collaborator in the work of Redemption and grace, for it carries the risk of eclipsing the exclusive role of Jesus Christ the Son of God made man for our salvation, who was the only one capable of offering the Father a sacrifice of infinite value — which would not be a true honor to his Mother. Indeed, as the “handmaid of the Lord” (Lk 1:38), Mary directs us to Christ and asks us to “do whatever he tells you” (Jn 2:5).
So from the New Covenant scripture only (all 27 books) and without any other help, everyone who reads them will know, understand and agree upon:
-What baptism is.
-What baptism does.
-Who can be baptized.
-How one is baptized.
-That Jesus is God.
-That Jesus is distinct from the Father.
-That God the Son became man.
-That God died on the cross.
-That God is Triune.
-That Jesus gives His flesh and blood as a sacrificial offering and must be eaten to have eternal life.
-There is only one second coming.
-Salvation can be lost.
-Forgiveness must first be given if we are to receive it also.
-That we are called to do good works.
-That the Holy Spirit is given in a unique way by the laying on of hands.
