The Julián Álvarez saga just reached a new level.

Barcelona sporting director Deco has been in direct talks with Álvarez's agent, Fernando Hidalgo — a sign the club still won't let this one go, even as the road to a deal gets harder.

Because behind the scenes, Atlético's own hierarchy have called an emergency internal meeting over Álvarez's future, with the situation said to be reaching breaking point.

Adding to the complication — reports suggest Atlético would rather see him leave for the Premier League, with Arsenal in the frame, than hand him to domestic rivals Barcelona.
