🚨 Trending Genre Ranking in Fortnite
What types of game are currently popular?
Is it Simulator? Or perhaps Free for All?
This feature ranks trending genres quantitatively based on Fortnite Data API.
Let’s explore which types of islands you should consider creating next.

📢For UEFN Creators & Development Studios
We’re launching a new island operations service powered by Fortnite data analysis!
To maintain a steady inflow of players, islands require regular updates.
We handle those updates on your behalf for $1,000 per month and up.
Rather than updating blindly, we make data-driven decisions using "Analytics Devices" and "Fortnite Insights market analysis" to determine what to update and when. This approach helps maximize retention and unlock further growth potential.
If you’re a creator or studio interested in this service, feel free to send us a DM.

Metric 3: New Release Share (How “Fresh” the Top Tier Is)
The third metric is New Release Share.
Within each tag’s top 560 islands, it measures what percentage were released within the past month.
It’s a freshness indicator: are new islands regularly entering the top tier, or is it mostly long-standing classics?
A low new release share suggests older islands dominate the top ranks and new releases struggle to break in (or need more time).
A high share indicates newly released islands are frequently reaching the top tier, implying stronger near-term opportunity.
However, you should read it together with other metrics: low share could also mean fewer new islands are being shipped in that tag (supply-side).
For example, low new release share + high dominance strongly suggests a closed market with fixed winners.
But low new release share + low dominance could mean the market is distributed and the main issue is simply fewer new launches.
From a planning perspective, this metric approximates: “Can you win if you launch now?”

Metric 2: Dominance Rate (Winner-Takes-Most vs. Distributed)
The second key metric is Dominance Rate.
Within each tag’s top 560 islands, we exclude islands with zero plays during the week.
Then we compute what percentage of total plays is captured by the top 10% of islands (ranked by weekly plays).
If 100 islands got played at least once, we take the top 10 and ask: what share of all plays do they account for?
A higher dominance rate means a “winner-takes-most” structure where a few islands absorb most traffic, making it harder for new releases to break through.
A lower dominance rate means plays are spread across multiple islands, implying more room for new entrants.
In this dataset, large market size doesn’t always mean extreme dominance—Free for All can be big yet relatively less concentrated.
Meanwhile, Tycoon often looks more dominated because a few megahit islands can capture a massive portion of total plays.
Strategically, dominance rate tells you whether a tag is structurally “locked” or “open,” and how much differentiation you need to win.

Metric 1: Total Plays (Market Size)
The first core metric in this analysis is Total Plays.
For each tag (e.g., Practice, Tycoon, Simulator, Box Fight), we extract the top 560 islands by concurrent users (CCU) within that tag.
Then we calculate how many total plays those 560 islands generated over one week, and use that aggregated number as the tag’s market size.
The key point is that we’re comparing the actively played upper tier across tags, not every island including the long tail.
In this dataset, Practice is roughly ~100M weekly plays, while Tycoon is around ~60M weekly plays, showing a clear gap in scale.
A notable pattern is that tags close to Fortnite’s original gameplay loop (Zone Wars, Box Fight, Free for All) rank high, while Tycoon/Simulator also performs strongly—likely boosted by viral “Brainrot-style” islands.
Beyond the top cluster, the totals drop sharply, which matters for planning: choose top tags to chase maximum audience, or mid-tier tags for more focused competition.
Ultimately, Total Plays is a “ceiling” metric: it tells you how many players are realistically available in that tag.

What kinds of islands are featured in the Sponsored Row?
We analyzed this from two perspectives.
The first is the average number of Plays from 2025/10/31 to today, and the second is how often each island appeared in Discover over the past month.
For the first point, as shown in the first image, most islands had fewer than 5,000 plays.
This suggests that the majority of islands featured in the Sponsored Row are not ones that usually receive a high amount of player traffic.
For the second point, as shown in the second image, 34.3% of islands had zero Discover appearances in the past month, 37.8% appeared around 50 times, and the remaining ~28% appeared more frequently.
Taking these results together, the islands that have been featured in the Sponsored Row in the past few days tend to be ones that do not normally attract many players, rather than consistently popular islands.
What do you think about these findings?
Is the Sponsored Row intended as a measure to support smaller creators?
Or are larger creators simply waiting to see how things develop?
#UEFN #Fortnite
One concern about Sponsors Row is that if bidding decides the winner, islands already earning higher Epic payouts will keep winning and gaining even more players.
We analyze data to verify whether this has actually been the case.
We’ll share the results tomorrow.

Which types of islands tend to appear in each Discovery row?
What characteristics do those islands have?
We will be sharing insights based on an analysis of the six Discovery rows whose placement criteria are relatively clear, using historical placement data.
Stay tuned!

🚨3 Key Metrics to Hack Discover
These combine into your Discover Score.
1 Attraction: Turning impressions into actual plays
2 Engagement: Keeping players active and improving retention
3 Satisfaction: Getting players to rate island as fun, favorite and recommend it
detail ↓
Satisfaction
1. Endorsements: Players clicking Favorite or Recommend after a session.
2. Post-Match Surveys: Random surveys (≈2% chance) asking about fun, satisfaction, quality, or difficulty.
3. A player can only be surveyed once every 14 days.
On the Fortnite Insights Discord server, we host talk events.
Currently, the sessions are held in Japanese, but we will host them in English in the future as well.
The first event will likely be titled “How to Get Featured on Discover: A Breakdown of the Six Categories.”
