In all seriousness though, this was perhaps the best production I have ever seen in my life, bursting with trans and queer joy we well as exploring so intricately the relationship between religion and queer life. Just loved it. Anyone for round 2?????
@Diane_Watt @Transliterature I had a section on Joan of arc in my essay on trans possibility in ancrene wisse that I had to cut out because of the word count! So excited that this production is coming out!
Our new play I, Joan shows Joan as a legendary leader who uses the pronouns ‘they/them’. We are not the first to present Joan in this way, and we will not be the last. We can't wait to share this production with everyone and discover this cultural icon.

Every time I sit down to write down my dissertation I get increasingly emotional that im coming to the end of my five years at Surrey which has become a what a very safe space - especially at masters level
But then I get over it cause I'm writing bout gay Disney films MWAHAHAHA
This image of a woman shirtless in a sports bra - hugely significant. This is a woman’s body - not for sex or show - just for the sheer joy of what she can do and the power and skill she has. Wonderful. #Lionesses
