Our team has just completed surveying onshore and offshore wind turbine foundation flanges to ensure all are within specification after installation. We have a range of different metrology systems including our extremely accurate and versatile laser tracker.
For some insitu jobs you really do need a head for heights. This project required the survey and then machining of flange onto of a large jacket structure

Part off and prep a large diameter crane pedestal, no problem - our solution uses our MH32 milling heads to part off and then create the internal and external 45deg preps simultaneously
A photo form the archives - working on a FPSO turret - having turn milled the diameter with our R10000 machine, the next stage was to mill bearing pad pockets with one of our 3 Axis Mills
Setting a large flange facing machine to a 6m diameter flange requires skill, experience and know how - nice to see one of machinists pleased with his work
Our team working through the night to repair an incorrectly machined flange. This 5m flange should have had an inward tilt, however, the machining company initially used machined the face level.
Despite the best efforts of fabricators, finished machined parts welded into assemblies can result in non conforming dimensional and geometric tolerances. We can mobilise at short notice to re-machine features back within tolerance.
Insitu machining is not always the best option - if the component can be easily disassembled - shipping to a machine shop can be a better alternative. Our off-site machining capability is extensive and we can handle large components up to 7 tonnes.
Sometimes 'normal' equipment is unsuitable and an innovative solution is required. Normal tooling for trepanning 610mm dia holes into a 3.5m diax25mm wall thick stainless steel vessel would unsuitable. A milling tool on a rotary table was selected as the most effective solution.
Damaged thread on your equipment? No need to strip down your machine we can machine external or internal threads with our insitu machines. If required we can machine a non-standard thread and manufacture the mating part to suit
Following some successful trials, Reekie have the capability to incorporate CNC controls to our insitu machining equipment - we are now looking for projects to use this on
A lot of insitu machining requirements are pretty bespoke. Our milling machining equipment is composed of a variety of slides, beams, brackets and milling heads all of which are interchangeable, allowing us to cover most applications with our existing range.
Some flange facing jobs are not so simple, especially when the component is fully assembled, tested and painted! This project required a bespoke solution- Reekie have the know how, experience and expertise.
Struggling to find an insitu machining solution for a bespoke requirement? Try Reekie. We were tasked with turning the end of a large reel shaft - 1210mm in diameter, our solution was to adapt our R5000 flange facing machine.
