@johnlewishelp Currently sitting on hold (as yet unanswered) for approaching 40 minutes on your ‘Customer Services’ helpline. “Please be assured that our partners are doing everything to answer your call” - apparently everything except answering the call. This is HMRC level of customer service!
Katherine Birbalsingh says it straight: schools teach slavery, but they don’t hear that Britain banned it, enforced it at sea, and paid a fortune to end it.
Katherine Birbalsingh is right. That gap isn’t education it’s a political lesson.
The Arab slave trade barely gets a look in.
That’s not an accident. It’s a story built around guilt, not history.
She’s talking common sense and the truth.
Every school needs a teacher like this. This woke version of the past is damaging children and every classroom needs this kind of honesty and every classroom needs a teacher like Katherine.
Reminds me of the 1980s - I can’t remember exactly when - when ‘Moriarty’ was the watchword (moratorium on training expenditure). No blank ammo for training so had to run around Otterburn, Catterick etc shouting ‘banana, banana, banana’ to simulate firing - with ‘Bunch of bananas’ the accepted shout for a machine gun……
@DPJHodges You’ve ceased to be an objective journalist and now write about a parallel universe which you inhabit, an echo chamber of pro-Burnham/Labour views. Never let the facts get in the way of a pro-Labour story…..
@SandyofSuffolk@JuliaHB1@TalkTV Youth is wasted on the young…….forgive him, Sandy, because he lacks the wisdom that comes with age, experience and a few mistakes along life’s journey.
@MrHarryCole But on @TalkTV this morning @DPJHodges said that Burnham did very well yesterday in the Commons. Oh, wait, Dan was seeing the performance through the prism of ‘my man can do no wrong’ rather than objective journalism.
Best unit I served in. The finest of Para Reg, Royal Marines and RAF Reg all in one place.
Only job where I ever bounced into work every day because I got to command the best young men the British military had to offer.
The “I” under my Para Reg tattoo makes me proud.
Andy, I think your induction period is over. The ‘whenIwoz Mayor of Manchester’ playbook is wearing thin. Time to step up and be the PM and deal with the big issues facing this country rather than those impacting a handful (sad as it may be). Time to show that you have a strategic vision and intent. Or are you someone who has just been promoted to your level of incompetence. Over to you.
@DPJHodges One could argue that the failure of the other main parties to stand candidates in the Clacton by election meant they had no way of defining their own benchmarks against the perceived decline of Reform. Own goal for them in my view.
UNDER LABOUR
If you earn it, they tax it
If you spend it, they tax it
If you save it, they tax it
If you invest it, they tax it
If you build it, they tax it
If you sell it, they tax it
If you live in it, they tax it
If you drive it, they tax it
If you eat it, they tax it
If you give it away, they tax it
If you're no longer here, they tax it
THEN THEY WASTE IT
