In my role, I get to go to lots of different places, I've seen this fountain numerous times but thought I should take a pic in the sunshine. At @SDSA, we were discussing sometimes, always, never questions from @nrichmaths to expose misconceptions.
1500 x 32 = 3000 x 16 (double/halve)
I know that 3x16 = 48 (known fact for me), so 3000 x 16 = 48,000.
If I didn't know 3x16=48, I could have continued: 6,000 x 8 or 12,000 x 4 or 24,000 x 2

@pwharris Tried factors, e.g. 7x5x9x8, rearranged to end up with 7x3x2x2x2x5 = 504x10/2 = 2520 (needed jottings to keep track)
or
35x72=70x36=140x18=280x9 (doubling and halving)
280x9=280x10-280 (distributive law)

My 2nd of 3 sessions of rich tasks in #primary#mathu with minimal physical prep (but lots of brain prep) with SDSA, #Leicester. So much mathematical thinking with 'simple' tasks. π
Today was the final session with @em-mathshub.bsky.social as part of @ncetm#secondary#TAs. Our final session got to grips with fractions & made links to ratio/proportion. Hopefully I convinced them about the power of the numberline π
@Yorkshire_Steve@adamboxer1 Some schools have spoken to me the use of the word 'differentiation' by inspectors which I was surprised at. It is such a loaded term in school and I fear a return to chilli challenges et al. When we talk inclusion, we are talking adaptations imo. Are others hearing similar?
