We marked an important milestone this past weekend in preparing for the IM3 mission as our Nova-C Navigation Pod completed long range thermal vacuum testing at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center inside the X-Ray Cryogenic Facility (XRCF).
XRCF is the world’s largest X-ray optical test facility and features a massive 500-meter vacuum tunnel, which is longer than the Holland Tunnel’s north tube and nearly the length of two Space Needles stacked end to end.
Our laser rangefinders measured targets at 260m and 490m in a completely airless environment. Hardware was enclosed in a thermal shroud with controlled heat loads and temperature swings from 39°C (102°F) to -3°C (26°F), stressing components to confirm sensor accuracy during lunar descent.
Grateful for the experts who planned, prepared, and solved challenges on the fly. Stay tuned on this channel for more IM3 journeys to Moon Base and check out the time lapse from inside XRCF!
We’ve completed the acquisition of Goonhilly and COMSAT, expanding our space network for communications, data transport, and PNT in support of Moon Base. The network will support our IM‑3 and Altus‑1 missions along with the growing mission cadence of civil, national security, and commercial customers.

On July 20, 1969, humanity proved we could visit the Moon. Today, we are building the infrastructure required to stay.
History inspired us. Infrastructure sustains us.

Intuitive Machines is the prime contractor for NASA’s LROC and ShadowCam instruments—representing 67% of NASA’s total planetary data holdings. With #TEESresearch, we have successfully migrated the nation’s largest lunar dataset (1.8+ petabytes) to a new high-performance data infrastructure. This milestone preserves the foundational digital infrastructure and lunar intelligence required to map, navigate, and land on the Moon.
Happy 250th, America! 🇺🇸
Two and a half centuries ago, a journey of independence and exploration began. Today, that same American spirit drives our lunar infrastructure. We build the spacecraft, connect the networks, and operate the infrastructure that sustains humanity on the Moon.
The American flag on our Nova-C lander stands as a permanent marker of capability in deep space.

IM‑3 just got its “hat”! The lander’s top deck is now installed and full‑vehicle integration begins ahead of hot fire. We’re celebrating by declaring today the official IM‑3 Hat Day.
IM‑3’s a Nova‑C class lander and part of Intuitive Machines' space infrastructure service across cislunar space, supporting NASA’s Moon Base, expanding lunar operations, and creating a national asset.
If it moves on the Moon, then it’s Made in Maryland! Governor Wes Moore announced a $1M Build Our Future Grant that helps us expand our space robotics and mechanisms operations in Anne Arundel County and establish a Space Robotics and Mechanisms Center of Excellence.
With the success of Artemis and a faster tempo for NASA and commercial missions, demand is growing for the devices we innovate, like rover deployment arms, 360 pan tilt cameras, and precision engine gimbals.
Thank you, Governor Moore, Maryland, Anne Arundel County, and St. John Properties for your commitment to space technology innovation! Learn more: https://t.co/LA2u1guAuh
