Gaming, Technology, Futurism. Let's work together to use technology we do have, or design what we don't, to reduce the cost of living (and everything else too!)
@RinoTheBouncer Agree completely, and it's even MORE Evil than that. A huge component of the "you will own nothing"/everything is a subscription or digital thing you can't resell is to remove the ability of younger generations to EVER build net worth, gaming being a large portion for the young.
In addition to being the dream of corrupt governments everywhere, that they have absolute control on ALL citizens transport abilities, this is the most obvious logical conclusion argument they're going to make. At some point, self-driving cars will be safer than humans, and they'll argue to ban human drivers at that point, and likely too many naive citizens will be fine with that, not understanding that they are giving up both their freedom, and any ability to defend it.
@Grummz This right here may be the last nail in the coffin that almost COMPLETELY wipes out AAA studios. Gamers have had enough, many AAA studios have already gone under, and this may doom most of the rest if they all go to $80. For many, GTA6 MIGHT be worth 80, but NO other AAA games.
@adgirlMM Also, as many have pointed out, fir W2 "regular employment" jobs, your employer is also paying the same amount as you, so you're really paying TWICE what you see, it's just the other side is invisible to you. Theoretically your employer could pay YOU that much more instead.
@adgirlMM For contractors and the self-employed - which is a lot these days [gig work], it's 15.3% off the top of your ENTIRE personal tax [net business profit], NO deductions or anything reduces that [some negligible possible business deductions, but NOTHING once it hits personal tax].
@ThatJohnJones I get what you're saying and agree with the sentiment, but Britain, in it's ENTIRE HISTORY, has _NEVER_ been more at war, nor more at risk, than it is right now. The only difference is this time it's the enemy within... but whom is also colluding with foreign, enemy powers.
This is a problem many on the Right don't want to accept
The Left is no longer "just like us they just want to have more welfare"
The left is abandoning Capitalism, Christianity and all of the values we used to hold as a Country,(and the right still does)
This isn't a "difference of opinion on tax policy", the left wants a full scale reimagining of our country into a Socialist/Communist Utopia they think could exist if we "just did it right this time"
@EricawithaC13 I'd like to add to that, the C19 vaccine will (particularly if you count future premature deaths caused by it) kill ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE more people than the Nazis human experimentation - or even the entire Holocaust. This was the largest act of mass murder in human history.
@EricawithaC13 Yes. Too many people fail to see the forced COVID 19 Vaccines for what it is: forced human experimentation that frequently resulted in death. EXACTLY the same thing as the Nazis did in concentration camps in WW2. And yes, some people (i.e. some military) were forced at gunpoint.
@TannerLeidy@JakeSucky They don't. The whole point is to make them comply with the law, and give the customers a way to keep the game playable once the servers shut down. If they refuse, the refunds will hopefully bankrupt them. In which case, one extremely evil studio closed, a few thousand to go.Good
@JReganz@CNBC Only NOT CORRUPT OR EVIL corps can & nearly ZERO big businesses are. People being paid what they're worth is the ONLY way to get people out of poverty. Huge corp profit margins & no poverty cannot exist together. They almost NEVER pay what you're worth, SOME small businesses do.
@fandompulse As someone that LOVED some of these companies back in the day - i.e. I LOVED Age of Empires 1 & 2 - I agree completely. We need bad companies to fail, then GOOD companies to take over their IPs and make GOOD games again. The problem is, BAD companies almost _ALWAYS_ get the IPs.
@elonmusk THIS. This right here sums up MOST industries problems right now. WAY too many "Elites," "experts," "industry veterans," "senior [positions]," not to mention CEOs, that have been there FOREVER, eternally maintaining status quo, when ENDING the status quo is the ONLY way forward.
@btrekman1@nicksortor Seriously? Iran declared war on the US 47 years ago, so they had 47 years to attack first (and did somewhat, they killed many Americans) AND to prepare for retaliation. Only 47 YEARS of difference in heads up. One of the most pathetic anti-Trump posts I've ever seen.
Yes, this is the way, with a few caveats. Ultimately we MUST find a way as a society to have a single, unified "app" / source (possibly a company, possibly government) for all of the gig workers (in this case car drivers) to list themselves / work through, that the companies can send offers to (probably need something to cycle though within certain limits, so 1 driver doesn't get everything, etc.), but ALSO that the end user customers themselves can send offers too [i.e. for a ride to the airport]. These gig companies do an almost INCONCEIVABLE amount of dishonest, and EXTREMELY frequently ILLEGAL things, to say nothing of extremely violating the spirit of the law. For example, gig workers are supposed to choose their own work, and have the chose of accepting or rejecting an offer - that's one of the legal definitions of being an independent contractor. But a HUGE percentage of the gig companies penalize - and quickly fire - drivers if they turn down too many offers (often you're required to keep a VERY high acceptance rate - say, 75-90% to maintain reasonable status, and not be semi-fired and rarely get any offers).
Another thing, we need a 3rd party - in this example the unified company/app, to handle tips. The gig companies need to be PROHIBITED from even KNOWING how much, if any, the tip is, because SO many of the companies drastically cut their portion of the pay for an offer when they know someone tipped well - or do even more nefarious things, such as forcefully tie it together with another, very bad paying, often no tip offer. Frequently one that pays WAY less than the federal mileage rate [supposedly the average actual cost per mile], hence COSTING the driver money on average - because the company knows the excellent tip someone else gave offsets it, so it might still be worth accepting that two-stop delivery. But in the end, the company stole an excellent tip and used it to offset an actual LOSS for another low-paying customer and/or offer.
One of the biggest problems though, is of car insurance. Something that needs to be URGENTLY and FIRMLY addressed. There's a CRAZY number of gig workers in the US, I believe over 10 million, so this is an EXTREMELY common thing to do. But it's almost impossible to find insurance companies that will cover it. Most drop you on the spot or refuse to offer you a new policy if they find out you do gig work. Even many COMMERCIAL car insurance companies WILL NOT INSURE anyone doing ANY gig work - INCLUDING NON-RIDESHARE work. I'm sorry, but refusing to even OFFER insurance for someone driving their own personal car with only themselves in it is psychotic. Just because there's some food or a small amount of packages does not change this - it's totally normal for people to have their own food or packages in their car. I'm not necessarily saying the companies can't charge any more, IF it truly does increase costs, but NOT OFFERING COVERAGE needs to be ILLEGAL - and so does price gouging, FAR beyond what additional it costs them. Make it illegal to sue someone "as a business" [as in, excessive amounts solely because "it's a business"] in the case of an accident; just treat it as a normal personal drivers accident.
Probably need to make it that ALL personal car insurance AUTOMATICALLY covers ALL gig work EXCEPT doing rideshare NOT through an app [as Uber & Lyft supposedly have their own coverage for when you have a rider in the car].
For anyone doing rideshare NOT through an app [and it's not a bad idea otherwise], they should get commercial car insurance [often not that much more expensive, as outrageous as personal insurance has gotten], but ALL commercial car insurance should automatically be forced to cover ALL of that sort of thing [gig work with food, packages or people AND doing those things for profit yourself, NOT through an app].
The fact that it's EXTREMELY hard to get coverage for something that's become SO common is a MAJOR problem. Also MANY insurance companies LIE to you about if they cover that. Others will ask you AFTER you sign up for a policy, and cancel you when they find out. As a result of all the shenanigans, MOST US citizens either don't say anything to their insurance company or lie to them, as there's often no other options (or they're fed up after talking to 10 different companies).
My personal opinion is that this is all a coordinated effort to make it hard or impossible for US citizens to do gig work - they're trying to have it SOLELY for the illegal aliens. Some estimates put the number of gig workers that are illegals at 80-90%. Anyone that's used gig companies as a customer knows that it's irrefutably at MINIMUM close to that.
At minimum, it's virtually unquestionable that there's a conspiracy to make it hard or impossible for people to do ride share fully, legally, independently, NOT via an app, by making insurance that would cover that either hard or impossible to find, or absurdly expensive.
As long as it's a reasonable price (and it legally needs to be, as you driving your own car vs. you driving your own car with an amazon package in the passenger seat, for example, simple DOES NOT either at all, or any significant amount, increase the driving risk. Yes, I do think self-employed people doing gig work DO need to have insurance, and should have GOOD [as in higher] coverage limits, ideally commercial insurance - but it shouldn't be like pulling teeth to even find a company to offer coverage, or at a plausible price.
A company refusing to offer coverage implies that the risk is literally incalculably high - something that is just PATENTLY false for someone driving their own car - the exact same thing they already insure you to do.
Anyways, once we can get the whole car insurance debacle straightened out, then I'm all for people working independently as much as possible. I.e. have a unified app where customers can directly connect with drivers to supply a service (i.e. pick up food, deliver a package, get a ride, etc.). The fact that currently some evil filthy rich people in silicon valley (or elsewhere) are pocketing 25-75% of virtually ALL "independent" car driving work is just insane and borderline criminal. (it IS criminal if they've, say, colluded with government to stop or hinder any competition, or violated any of the current other laws [almost ALL of these companies have]). Also, these companies need to stop stealing our tips.
Ideally these companies need to be just entirely cut out of the loop. Unless absolutely necessary, middle men are bad. We can have rating systems or other checks and balances for drivers, etc., without having a company take 25-75% of every dollar earned by hardworking Americans - at SIGNIFICANT financial risk (driving their own car, responsible for their own repairs or damage, etc.) when these companies do absolutely NOTHING towards any iota of the actual acts of supplying the service, OR towards financial capital investment [buying the car] and risk [repairs, accidents, etc.] of supplying the service.
But for the reasons I mentioned above, and many others (mainly lobbying governments or other government corruption), the current state of society makes it somewhere between EXTREMELY hard and impossible for someone to fully, legally, and with proper insurance coverage, actually offer these services directly.

@johnennis@marcorandazza Good GOSH this is one of the most wrong, messed up things I've ever seen on X. Uber and ALL gig drivers are form 1099 contractors [the legal DEFINITION of self-employed], NOT W-2, because they're NOT an employee. Paying the mega corp INSTEAD is _NOT_ supporting the entrepreneur!
Yes, there is. It's called "Proof of the Devil of the Bible," and therefore proof that the Bible and Christianity is the true religion. What all those people have in common is that they are evil; but if there were no God (or devil), or demons, or spiritual side of reality [i.e. as Evolution teaches], they would all do "random," independent, unique to them and their goals, evil things. But they do not, they ALL, always, eventually coalesce on ONE goal: the complete genocide of Jews/Israel, the chosen people of the one, true God of the universe. Because the devil, being a fallen angel, HATES God and God's people more than anything else; therefore that always ends up being the ultimate goal of his followers - with "his followers" being anyone continually submitting to and making the evil choices in their lives, instead of good (not that just being "good" gets you to Heaven, but that's not the point here).
While the "Current" [i.e. 2000+ years] Jews themselves have [as a generalization, many exceptions of course] VERY much currently forsaken that God - they did, after all, kill Jesus himself, as an example - they still represent the chosen people of God. God made a promise to Abraham about his bloodline, and God keeps his promises, period - regardless of what his descendants do. Due to his people rejecting him, God has accepted the gentiles [everyone else that isn't a Jew] that would accept him into the fold. This is why you always see evil people vehemently and often violently go after Jews and Christians, because they're Gods chosen people, and the people actually following God [in that order]. It's also why you almost NEVER see the evil people going after any of the other religions of the world - buddhists, muslims, etc.; because false religions don't bring conviction and make the evil people feel bad about themselves / the evil they're doing like the one true God / religion.
Us Christians don't believe in forcing anyone to believe the way we do [unlike muslims, for example]; I'm not saying anyone has to agree with me or change their religion or opinion. But for anyone willing to look and use some logic and common sense, and for anyone looking for an answer to the question asked by the original post, yes, there IS physical proof of God and which is the one true religion, and this is one big part of it. You don't have to convert to it, but that doesn't change the scientific facts about it.
